Some presents arrived in the mail today ;D went to Auto Zone to get the fluids and wipers. The grand total for everything was $511.49 and included the following AC Delco: Plugs Wires Air Filter Fuel Filter PCV Valve Coil Packs Then I picked up the wipers, oil, washer fluid (tank was bone dry), and carb cleaner. Got some work cut out for me tomorrow,m but thanks to all the write-ups it should be a bit easier. Being that I just picked up the car I wasnt going to question what had and had not been done, so I figured I would just do it all. With a little patience I found some pretty sweet deals online (ebay and Advanced Auto) and am pretty happy about everything I got.

you replaced the coil packs? Im about to, with 136k miles i figure why not, esp since i'm replacing the plugs and wires. I just replaced all 8 on my Crown Vic (to the tune of $535) and it runs soooo much better. And yeah, I could have saved a lot on generic parts (and $30 due to shipping) but id rather do it all at once and with AC Delco.

Can never overdo maintenance, pays for itself in the long run. I'm with you on the name brand parts as well.

You are one smart person to stick with the AC brand name ignition parts.....good job.
As typsy says....go for the coolant - Prestone has a $7.00/gallon rebate for the full strength product (don't get cheated on the 50/50 junk) until 1/31/11 - 2 rebate maximum. Both Walmart and Meijer had bottles with rebate coupons on them.
Additionally - consider changing the transmission fluid and filter. That will add about $100 to your maintenance costs, but every 50,000 mi or so is a reasonable change interval even if the book says 100,000 miles. Use any brand of Dex VI. All will be superior to the Dexron wannabes that you will find in the store. Walmart brand is cheapest. If you fluid is NOT pink/red on a white paper towel, change it sooner rather than later.

Boy does she purr! ;D Changed out the plugs, wires, and coil packs in about 3 hours time. Didnt run into a single issue, and despite 35 degree temps didnt injure myself, haha. Changed the oil and pvc in about 45 min which included idle time to warm things up and drain time. The oil plug was stuck but some wd-40 and a little patience worked. Changed out my wipers and reconnected a hose below the fluid tank, i came out to a puddle of fluid on the ground this morning...whoopsie. Didnt get time to change the fuel filter but thats an easy one. Also, along with new tires and brakes I discovered the prior owner recently changed the trans fluid...i wiped the dipstick on a piece of paper towel and it was clean and clear! Guess the dic wasnt lying. Filled her up with a fresh tank o premium and got out on the freeway and boy what a difference! Couldnt be happier

The TB looks like new. You did the smart thing by taking it off to clean. If you have'nt, do an EGR clean too. But as thorough as you are, I bet you already have. Great job!! Bob
