Have a 97' aurora and was wondering does anyone have any insight on this? is it a dealer only item? where can you pick one up and how far are they going to set you back! any information would be appreciated. Its on the end of the plenum. Are you just looking for the actual door itself? Its made into the air plenum

tryed to help someone find this part before, and had no luck! but this i do know the valve orifice is part of the intake! there's a gasket around the perimeter, and the door is on a spring loaded hinge! the gasket may be bad? or is the spring bad? (keeping the door from closeing all the way) either way you'll most likely need to pull the intake off to have a good look at the problem, replace the intake with a good boneyard part, OR epoxy it closed with it on the car! (it's been done before). the intake is not hard to pull off, and the gaskets ar cheap

what do you meen on the car? intake still attached or can you pull the intake and do it? you should be able to take the part off by just clearing the power steering pump to get to it and it should come out like an old radiator cap by pushing in and turning off and pull back, i just want to know where to purchase a new part, anyone?

I dont think you can just buy the valve. You should have to buy a new intake and the cheapest ive seen new are 175-200, for a better brand 300+. but my question is cant you take the intake off and epoxy it?

mine is siliconed up tight (by previous owner.) you can move the power steering pump and do it without removing the intake... or take the intake off and do it.

I might be interested in this "fix" I have a high pitched whistle when cold...theres only so many vac lines. I think its the backfire valve. SES now throwing P0171. Not to hijack...I'll post a new one for ideas.

GM part number 3546341. It's called fuel pressure relief valve and is designed to open if there's a backfire. Costs about $35 and it is a dealer part. A local Caddy dealer would most likely have stock. GM parts direct definitely does have it. Mine went bad around 40k miles. The high-pitched whistle was my symptom. A very unpleasant sound.

Thanks marshall (for me anyway) did you trip the SES from it?

No. the SES didn't acknowledge it. I had intake manifold backfire issues, mainly at start-up at that time which was remedied with a new FPR. Weeks later, the whistle from hell started. That sound only occurred at idle and disappeared after the rpms increased a bit.
Gotta say, so far I've been lucky with my Aurora. The issues I have had were inexpensive, bizarre, and so uncommon that nobody on our list could offer help. If you've got a service manual, try to find reference for this threads valve. I wasn't able to.

The whistle goes away after warmed up...a lot faster in the spring/summer. Seems strange tho, can the plenum get warm enough to close up a leak? hmm
