Some times when I turn the key to start the engine all the lights will come on but... that’s it, the started will not crank and I don’t hear the solenoid clicking. I read about the loose cable on the started but before I go into this I would like to know if any of you might tink it could be my ignition switch. This problem is becoming more often but so far after a few tries I can start the engine. Thanks in advance for the help

when it fails again... 1. disconnect this one-wire connector, its a wire that feeds a solenoid 2.1. If you do not have someone to help you, then make a check-bulb, connect one end to body, other to the contact of a disconnected plug closer to the firewall. Place bulb so you can see it lit through window from driver's seat OR 2.2 if you have extra pair of hands/eyes and multimeter, connect multimeter same way you would do with bulb, have someone to check reading. At this point it should be zero. 3. turn the key to start the engine 4.1 if check-bulb lits up or multimeter has some reading (close to +12V), then problem lies in solenoid (or this same plug has too dirty contacts). 4.2 if former not present (no reading or bulb lit), problem is somewhere else (passkey, ignition switch etc) There's one more thing you can do, BUT do it ONLY after checking your gear is on PARK position. Using extra wire, connect one end of it to battery terminal under hood, standing on SIDE of your car, connect other end of wire to disconnected solenoid wire's engine side. Starter should start to turn the engine instantly (having your key on ignition position, engine will start, then disconnect wire immediately, better yet not to have it on ignition). If not, then variables are - a. starter/solenoid is shot b. some nuts on solenoids are loose or solenoid windings ends are oxidized under very thin "nuts" installed by factory (i consider it as a bad engineering, those thin sheet nuts could not have tension enough to give reliable connection. the ones on copper bolts I am talking about). If engine turns, but didn't turned previously on key start, then possibly higher current directly from battery terminal has burnt the clearer way for himself and you will be able to start your engine from key for some time again. At least it's the way I interpret it.
