My antenna was stuck. I could hear the motor running but nothing was happening so I tore into it today. I removed the shaft from the motor, you have to be careful not to break the plastic pins on aether side of the shaft, they will have rubber boots on them just gently work one side out with a flat head screw driver and the other side will easily pop out. Inside there is a nylon cord that connects the motor to the tip of the antenna mine was full of dirt and not allowing the cord to coil. I took some lithium grease on a paper towel and cleaned the nylon cord. Now it works fine. If the cord is not there it is broken and the antenna should be replaced. If you notice that your antenna is laboring to move I would suggest spraying a decent amount of silicone in this area.

Very nice! According to GM that's a "non servicable" part that they will only replace and not repair. So you've got one up on them now. I've added this to the Audio/Electric sticky at the top of the forum.

Broken cord does not mean antenna needs replaced. Am working on the write-up now. ;D

I repaired my antenna by replacing the broken white nylon leader with the heaviest gauge ''WHIPPER SNIPPER '' line I could find .( .095" ). Has worked and lasted over a year.
