I have seen it asked a few times on here and I believe Bob has some sort of work around with a relay and his lock button for temp disable. This however is permanent key chime disable(which is what I required). Well it is reversible but it's always OFF until reconnected. To disable the constant chiming with key in ignition and door open simply de-pin E3 DARK BLUE/WHITE - Chime Module Signal Bit 1 wire from the RFA module connector. You could also cut the wire and cap each end to isolate them. RFA Pinout for ReferenceThe chime will still harp at you if you leave park/headlamps on, just not when the key is left in the ignition. This will still prevent you from locking the doors(unless manually) with key ignition.

The module under rear deck on passenger side in trunk compartment. FSM pictures show the RFA module on the driver side under the rear deck if you have Bose. I don't know the accuracy of that. Mine is Non-Bose and mounted on passenger side of under rear deck. Mount Location:

Same spot for Bose, it's just behind the sub-box. Mine is slightly different. I like the key-in chime because I'm absent minded. My relay bypasses the Door Ajar alarm, so I can take the key out of the ignition and open the drivers door without RAP shutting off. This means I do have to re-energize the radio every ten minutes or so, but that also reminds me to not let the battery run down... start it occasionally.

I am going to de-pin E3 and see what it does. See if it will refuse to let you lock with key in ignition. It may be better that way.

^Yeah. That worked perfectly. I guess I need to edit the first post now.
Just de-pin or cut and isolate Pin E3 on the RFA connector. This will disable chimes with key in ignition, but also still prevents locking doors with key in ignition. So, no worries about locking keys in.
Will still chime if park/headlamps are on.

I think I have found a possible side effect of this mod. The interior lights in my Aurora no longer come on upon removal of the key from the ignition (i/e they used to come on when the key was out and off when in) All other interior light functions are working. I noticed them not working only after the mod. I can only assume that the wire that was de-pinned, having to do with the key being in the ignition, is the cause. Not a huge deal, but it was a feature I liked. Debating whether to reconnect or not haha. Do I like the feature more than I hate the chime....hmmm

Interior lights still work without the key in igntion. Will test in '98 if I get the chance. Any specific situation where this happens?

No the interior lights still manually work with and without the key in the ignition. My problem is after driving and shutting the car off the interior lights used to come on on their own when the key was removed from the ignition. Now they stay off and only come on upon opening the door.
I also noticed that the chime for the delayed locking feature no longer works, but the feature still does. Which, isn't really that big of a deal, all it really ever did was tell me when I hit it on accident haha.

Ah I see. Didn't read that well.
Yeah I don't think mine turn on until the door is opened or manually turned on. I never even noticed. That's no big deal to me. Delayed locking also is not an issue for me either. I don't use it. RFID keyless entry FTW.
So, you could do this on a switch too. To have this on-demand with a SPDT relay. Just to have the chime off when you want it to be.
