What would one need to do to achieve this? I know of a guy that makes wiring harnesses locally, but I would like to know if an LS1 chip can control the trans?
or could we use a Cadillac comp from a STS to control the shift points by giving it trans control and a few engine inputs, then as well have an LS1 controlling the engine performance. Also I guess I'd need the wiring diagram of the computer itself. I've been wanting book 1 anyway.
Any knowledge is helpful here.

I still think using a piggyback system, such as Megasquirt, would be the way to go.

Well I would wonder if we could piggyback a comp to control the trans. I think the engine is more simple since I understand the engine controlling mechanisms better and it's senors. I would think all of them could be manipulated to be controlled with an LS1 comp and I would have someone else program for me.
However the transmission I do not know as well. Like are the sensors similar to those of a 4T60E? Could we get a GTP or something computer that is tuneable to control our trans? Excuse my ignorance on the matter for know if the Megasquirt could. I am trying to learn and better understand why it isn't possible.
I mean I know there are solenoids that control it mainly along with inputs like VSS but is that all you would need to control, say you give it the VSS input and engine rpm what would be necessary to control just the solenoids accurately?

We won't really know until someone does it, but here's my $.02... 1) LS1 computers are used to control N* engines in RWD custom hot rods and dune buggies. 2) Megasquirt also has a transmission controller. 3) Piggybacking is theoretically possible, just feed the sensor inputs to both computers, but the ignition and fuel injection is controlled by the new ECM. The old PCM controlling the trans would probably need load resistors to simulate the injector coils among other "tricks".

*OR* just go with old school carbeuration and do away with the computers alltogether using HEI ignition vs coil packs. like a conversion kit to mount a distributor instead of coil packs, then go with hotter ignition.
wouldn't that be nice? lol

Let us know when you hook up a distributor to a N* Lance! lol I'll take computerized fuel injection (and up to 30mpg) any day!

2nd that^ also was thinking, can we program the performance button onto the Megasquirt? I would like to be able to tune an economy mode to standard and all out 7,200 rpm shift on performance ;D If not then could we use the 4T60E computer for trans controller and tune it since it also has the button on a GTP? Would be nice to have both worlds easily.

Look into the MS3 system. They're awesome.
