Just put in a a brand new set of Monroe air shocks on my 2001 Aurora 3.5L and noticed the compressor kicks on for about 5 seconds and shuts off regardless or how low the rear is. Tried it several times by turning the car off and restatting it without any change. Does anyone have any experience with the level ride systems and could advise me how to trouble shoot it? I could not find much by searching..

so if you pop off the line on the shock does any air come out?

There appears to be absolutely no air in the shocks when I pop the line off. Could it be that something is plugged?

well it may not need to change the level height

Yes, it does. I have loaded the trunk with weight making the rear squat, the compressor only starts up for 5 seconds when vehicle is started. Anyone?

You can remove the little arm off of the lower control arm under the rear of the car, and actuate it and try to get it to kick on. Guessing that sensor is the culprit here

Who sells the sensors at a reasonable rate?

before you go getting a new part, pull the bottom of actuating arm off, and be sure the pump kicks on when moved. (arm is a ball type, not much unlike the trunk prop struts) then pop off the hose boot on one shock, and kick the compressor on, with your finger over hose and see if air is comeing out! then the other side. any air? no: clogged or split hose somewhere? clogged intake filter screen on the compressor? stuck pressure relief valve on the compressor? is the arm on right? or doing anything at all? actuating arm, is adjustable

#3 on the diagram above is just a little plastic piece that pops onto the actuator arm and it could be cracked like mine was, or the arm itself may be bent.

i thought mine wasnt working either after replacing the rear shocks last weekend. so I put a jack onder the rear drivers side tire and jacked it up to compress the spring. it took a BUNCH of jacking but when i got all the spring compressed, the motor kicked on and jacked the heck out of the rear. it took a while to setlled back down.
i also tried the weight thing but it needed more than 235 lbs to kick it in

I found out after replacing the shocks, compressor and sensor these cars will ride HARSH if not at the proper rear ride height. So get that ELC working! It only cost me 80 something bucks (salvage yard) parts. And if you go the same route i did, get the stuff from an STS/SLS or any other Cadillac that has compatible suspension parts. Quite a difference in part quality here
