As per the FSM, terminals T & U on the 20-pin trans connector should read between 10-15 ohms. This is the circuit for the TCC PWM Solenoid.
I could not get to the 20-pin trans connector very easily so I took the reading from pin 46 (clear connector) on the PCM and the trans 10A fuse from the underhood fuse block.
The reading I got was 2.6ohms. Obviously not in the range that the TCC PWM Solenoid should be in. I have an appointment at the dealership tomorrow to run a full diagnostics test but that will run me $100.
Would you trust this reading and would you replace the TCC PWM Solenoid or would you still take it to the dealership to have a "2nd opinion"?
BTW....all the connectors are clean and no wiring is frayed or broken.
Thanks!

Not a bad idea to get a second opinion before you start installing parts. My Aurora just set off the p1860 code on Friday, I will check the connectors, but I would like to go with a newer trans, anyways, so if mine keeps having problems, I will swap it in the future.

I'd say a full diagnostics for $100 at a stealership is a real deal so long as it's actually accurate. I trust Cadillac dealers over GMC.
Hey awehlage, your painted headlight bezels look sweet!

Had same codes come up for me after 2 years trans was rebuild it was a solenoid and it was under warranty to replace 1860 is making 741 to show up. and 1860 is good news in way cuz its electrical problem means 98% its solenoid issue. But I agree I would go to the cadi dealer to do diagnostic and yes cadi better than gmc or chevy/buick dealer.

Thanks to all of those who responded! TCC PWM Solenoid is confirmed as the culprit. Only reading 2.2ohms on the diagnostics test. Started tearing everything apart yesterday...this is not a fun job but it beats spending $1800 to have a shop do it. I don't have the solenoid out yet, need to get some tools to make the job easier but I am guessing the plastic connector is barely hanging on. That pesky hairpin that holds the solenoid in might be my greatest challenge...so much work for a $30 part. This has been a great website to help with the repair so far. Although I didn't drop the subframe and still have enough clearance. www.cadillacforums.com/forums/northstar-engines-system-technical-discussion/149973-another-p1860-p0741-repair.html

Solenoid replaced, trans fluid topped off and coolant fluid topped off. Also added Bars Radiator Leak Tabs. Took the car for a quick spin...no CEL. Lets wait and see after a couple of days. P.S. Wouldn't wish this on ANYBODY. Total of about 10 hours to get this done. Tedious and time consuming to say the least. One bad piece of news....can't find my 13mm ratcheting box wrench zoinks.....

Yeah...I know the wrench isn't anywhere "inside" the transmission case. I probably set it down somewhere but when you are looking for an hour at midnight your mind starts to wonder....haha The solenoid comes out rather easy. The retaining pin was taken out using a hooked pick (scribing tool). To get it back in what the PITA!! With about an inch between the transmission and case there wasn't much room. I tried using a dental mirror, a small magnet, duct tape....and after an hour I gave up. Then I found another post on the cadillac forums. Shaped a coat hanger and literally within 60 seconds I was staring at my car, smirking and thinking "you have got to be kidding me!" www.cadillacforums.com/forums/electrical-technical-information/203046-malfunction-indicator-light-p0741-p1860.htmlAbout halfway down are the images for the nifty hanger tool I made...ingenuity at its finest!!
