Note: this is for the STOCK CD/TAPE/AMFM headunit, not just TAPE/AMFM I use a tape converter for plugging in an iPhone for music, and I ruined 2 adapters because of having to pull them by the wire to get them out of the player because it would get stuck. If it didnt have a wire, I'd have never gotten it out. So i took it apart, and found that for some reason, the tape rides on the side of the unit that has the opening in the front frame. Its a fairly easy repair if you have a drill, and a dremel but pliers could substitute for the dremel. 1) All you have to do, is take the bottom cover off, 1 bolt (pliers can get it), and use a flat head screwdriver to pry it off. 2)Next, remove the tape player with the 4 small screw/bolts. 3)Now, with a drill bit the same size as the holes in the player that hold it down, extend the holes to the right 5/16" (H/U front facing you) 4)In the picture shows a hole to the left of the mounting screw that holds the tape unit in the H/U. That originally was a bump up on the H/U to align the tape player, I used the dremel to grind it down, you can just bend it down with pliers to get the same result. And there you go! Tape should move in and out of the player freely!
