I've got a question for the wiring geniuses out here... i found the express down window module in the driver side door during tear-down and want to install it to be able to have the passenger front window also be auto. Question that I'm sending out here is what would be the best way to accomplish this mod and would anything else be needed? another question would be do i even need a separate one or can i just tap into the old one that's already in the door? fuses? reverse polarity? .... here is the module and here is the wiring diagram. this would be a great mod if we could figure something out.

Should work if you put it after the passenger side switch. Only issue I see is the EDWM will need to get power when in run, start or RAP. Many ways you can do this but will require running new wire through door jamb boot.
Would you mind opening that up so I could take a look at it's insides? Looks like it is something like a 555 timer with so many second time out and a relay. Nice little project mod. I think Randy T. has listed in his 'auto up window' or something. Possible he used the module but used it the opposite way.

Yep, looks pretty straightforward. Just follow the function of each wire, then match the right wires. As sall points out, the brown wire that is hot with key on will need to be run, but I think you could tap it off the dark blue wire. That wire is hot whenever the window lock switch is not locked.
If you need more detailed instructions, I could try it on mine since I have a spare as well. Sall, don't quote me on this, but I believe these are based on current draw, not time. Once the window stops moving, the motor's current increases and the black box shuts it off. More reliable than limit switches.

Fo sho sall, let me figure out how it comes apart without braking it and I'll post a pic. And bobsblue95, if you could go threw and do a wright up I would be the next one with it installed. I'm starting to learn electrical now, which means with my luck I'll hook something wrong and either come back to a drained battery or a forest fire.

Ok, the module has pins A (brown), B (gray), C (dark blue) and D (brown). Inside the passenger door: Splice EDM pin A (make sure you get A, not D, they are both brown) to the dark blue wire that runs from window switch pin F to C601 pin D. Do NOT cut this wire, just tie into it. Splice EDM pin C to the dark blue wire running from Motor pin B to C601 pin G. Again, do NOT cut this wire. Locate the brown wire running from Motor pin A to C601 pin J. Cut this wire. Connect the switch side to EDM pin B (gray) and the Motor side to EDM pin D (brown)
Note that the Module only gets power to Pin A when the window lock switch is NOT in the lock position, so if you have them locked I believe it will go down but without express function. To "fix" that, you'd need to run an ignition wire as sall mentioned.

Ok, now that I understand what needs to be done I have a question. On the driver side door the brown (A) goes threw the motor side, and on the passenger side, (A) goes threw the solid state? Should I be reversing (A) and (B) on the passenger side door? Or will it be fine without doing so?

Just hook it up exactly as I wrote it. EDM blue wire to motor blue wire, EDM brown wire to motor brown wire.

Is it easy to post video on here, once the weight up is ready I'd like to add video of the outcome. ;D

I take it worked flawlessly! Awesome! Not just yet but its definitely next on the list. Sounds easy enough. Crazy thing is I still don't completely know how power windows work work. There has to either be something else to it that I haven't quite figured out or I'm just over thinking something simple. Regardless, I hope that this wright up helps.

Obviously not, if we're talking about this mod. ;D But no, only the driver's window is automatic.

I'm excited, I'm going to grab the express down module from my parts car and do this if it works!

It will work. No reason it shouldn't if wired properly. Grab the soldering iron and go at it.

Ideally you'd replace the whole module with one designed for that. Not sure, but it may be possible to wire up two stock modules per door to get express in both directions.

Randy T sig says something about auto up driver window. So, maybe he does or just switched the wiring.

I have to wonder... my fusion has both express down / up. any way this could be done on an Aurora? lol There a BUNCH of different write-ups on the internet using a Taurus auto up/down module. I believe we could go that route as well. Most of the modules seem to operate similarly. Next time I go to the salvage yard, I'll take a look.

First generations don't have auto down on the passenger side? Interestingly, I took the module out of my parts car today and noted that the passenger door *does* have the special T-shaped cutout for mounting the module. When you do this, you should either flip the little white mounting plate over or mount the module in the passenger door upside-down.

Well I did it! Took about an hour moving very slowly and deliberately, double checking as I went. It works beautifully! Great idea 1996autobahn! I'm working on a writeup with pics now.

Sweet bob! I've got my install planned for later today. Ultimately I'd like to get them installed on the rear two windows and get an alarm with an aux function so that I can get all four windows and the sunroof to open when I use my remote start function. I know that it would be a task to undertake but well worth it. possibly even get the express modules out of a taurus so that when I lock the car the windows roll up, plus find a way to also get the moon roof in the mix. ;D ;D oh yeah I'd even like to see how the switch works inside the vw jetta driver door also, you can put your key in the lock and hold it in the lock position to roll up all of the windows Friggin sweet!

And it's connected! Thanks for the extra wright up bob. Now I'm wondering how hard it would be to convert the panic button to a remote start?!!!

can't help there, my 95 doesn't have an alarm. Remote start takes a bit of electronic logic and safety precautions. Best bet is to get an aftermarket kit.

ok then, looks like an alarm is going to be installed. on the look out for one with a nice, non bulky remote.
