Water in my car :( « Thread Started on Oct 29, 2009, 4:27pm »
i found a misterious huge puddle of water in the carpet behind the driver side where the floors mats go ... i lifter the carpet and it was worse than i thought ... anyone have a clue where it maybe coming from??? i doubt is from the bottom ... i tend to leave my sunroof inclined all the time rain or shine but i never had dat much water before and it doesnt look like it got in from there cuz everything else is dry ...

naw it was way too much water to be from ac it was like a minuture lake , n underbackseat was dry just that area where the mat goes was just superwet i wet-vacumed it all already .... ... im sure its a combination of the sunroof drains and the door weatherstrip .... it stopped rainin so im ok for now .... weatherstrips are pricy

Just fixed same problem on my 2001 4.0. The sunroof has 4 drain holes with 4 drain tubes (2 front and 2 rear). Look at the sunroof near sun shade in corners and you can see the holes. Both of my front drain tubes were clogged, as well as left tube disconnected. That caused water to run rown both right front floor board sides, alond seam weld to rear floor pan where after time got so full it soaked the front as well. The front tubes are segmented ( dumb gm idea) with the top tube running behind the windshield pillar (L&R) to a pass through the cowl tube (drivers side behind parking brake(behind black rubber cover) (passenger side behind rubber pad up high on right side floor board). A quick check to see if its a simple clog and not a hose disconnection like i had is to jack up car in front. remove both front tires, remove the inner fender plastic shield (3 plactic push in retainer pins (remember to pull center out first then pull out larger pin top) When you have the plastic shield removed you can see a rubber nipple (thats the drain tube exit) Mine were clogged with dirt and fir needles) I ran a small dia. screwdriver to unclog. You can then test drain. Have wife/gf/buddy pour a small amount of water into hole (turkey baster works great) and squirt it down the hole. If it runs free after a few squirts then you have it easy, put all bact together dry out carpets and your home free,,,, if i doesnt then you have a hose disconnect ,, if the carpets are really wet best to remove seats, console and dry them out like I did (trusty wood heat did the trick) with carpets and seats removed, dry the water (not good for electronics under carpets not to mention SIR ect ect..) drivers side remove black kick panel under dash...unbolt the E.parking brake(3 nuts), then gently lift wiring loom and feel behind black rubber protector to feel a rubber grommet through the cowl.. thats where the drain tube connecte to a rubber pass through hose to nipple under inner fender shield. I had to re connect mine and used rubber tape to seal the connection on hose......Passenger side remove black kick panel under glove box, remove glove box, on the right there is a black emectrical box (DIM Module) push clip to lower, remove to side or disconnect 3 wire connectors and remove pout of way.. the metal retainer that holds the dim module has 3 screws, remove 2 that are on blower motor you then can slide your arm up under rubber shield and feel the drain tube connection on right side.. reconnect. (I had to lower the top roof pad(remove sun visors/arm grips) to disconnect the tube on sun roof to slide the tube down so I could connect the drain tube, then slid it back up gently and re attach to sunroof drain...... WHAT a royal pain..., Now for the back open trunk, remove the wheel liners and you can see the same pass through drain connector. remove and blow through the hole pour water (turkey baster) and watch under rear of tire for drain.. reconnect tube and all is well.. if not then starty tomorrow and remove back seat (top and bottom) remove interior cover (qtr panel high) lower roof panel, remove rear hose and blow out... mine luckily were not blocked.... After a weekend of hassles I now am water free and nice and dry... OH yeah trunk leaks can be caused from the tubes leaking into wheel well as mine were , BUT I also had a real seal leak that upon close inspecttion one couldnt tell but pulling heavy luggage in and out apparently dented (V shaped!! perfect drain shape) under seal and let H2o inside.. I removed seal cleaned it with rubbing alcohol, rebent straight the slight V shape and applier good ole black silicon sealant.. Now I am a Happy camper... now to have a dealer do this,,, start writing a big check!!! to do it yourself... have a relaxing time, take it slow, ensure you have a helper (use turkey baster!! air hose ect) and watch some football, drink your fav bev and not loose your cool and you will make that Aurora a dry and happy Car
