Short video of Oldsmobile Aurora LED Rear Deck(Tails + Finish Panel + Sequential Turn Signal). Project 95% finished(nothing is ever DONE haha) still need to perfect adjustable turn signal flasher and sequence flash rate. The flash rate/sequencing is slowed here as the camera distorts frames. By default the turn signals are OEM like(solid) and at my discretion can switch to sequential turn signals. This is easily done by simply selecting Sequential Turn Signals via CarPC relay. You can read more about the build here but I'll bring that to the audio/electric and lighting section soon enough Feedback appreciated! ;D

Thanks for the comments guys Haha yeah I wish that I had it too right up until he told me how much it all cost. No thanks! ;D Really it wasn't all that expensive. When you buy the LEDs in bulk they are pretty cheap. I used a little over half of what I bought and sold the rest for roughly what I paid for them. The brains of the operation which is just analog components add up to less than <$200. With hundreds of components left over for the other projects and the knowledge I acquired. Plus the advantages of LEDs in themselves. Even with setup I still pull less than the four 3157 bulbs in just the OEM tails! Faster response time over filaments. Longer life... I would say the project pretty much paid for itself haha. If I could have been paid for my time/labor let's just say I'd be rich!

i really wish i had the knowledge to do this. i am trying to get into electronics and soldering with some customizing of my xbox controller with leds. i would eventually like to work up to something like this. great job on the tails and keep up the good work.

No thanks! ;D did the same thing last year for less then $70 With slow energy hungry incandescent bulbs and three steps? Choice between sequential or not? Not the same thing, by far considering all the advantages of LEDs. Some of which are listed in previous posts above. There is not an incandescent bulb on the exterior of my vehicle. XM-L LED reverse lamps were just completed!

Tipsy what I meant was filament bulbs are slower to illuminate than an LED(instant on/off) not the flash rate. This LED setup has 6 steps for sequencing. I had seen filament finish panel before. Not a fan of the unevenly lit lens with large hot spots. Also the LED steps in the sequence are much more defined and have a clear cutoff. There is pretty much no bleeding of light. I personally think the advantages of LEDs over filaments is leaps and bounds in almost any scenario if you can get proper lens fill with LED spacing, optics, diffuser. Any amount of energy to conserve or increase safety is a win-win. Once you start with small projects such as interior lighting and work your way forward it all builds on each other like mathematics. This is actual simple project on large scale. lol I'll stick by my sig "Modded to My Taste" ;D I like to hear the opinions though thanks for the input!

"I personally think the advantages of LEDs over filaments is leaps and bounds"i aggree! don't get me wrong, i think your setup rules! i just took the cheap(easy) way out for what i wanted, Sequential Turn Signals............and they really don't look half bad when you see them! most of my prob was getting off that Prism inside the bar that reflects the light back, and makes hot spots.

Thanks man! Yes, lots of work. Four solder joints on each LED and there were hundreds of them haha. That project made every other lighting project I have done child's play though! Still working on a few 'show' sequences. Have gotten many compliments locally and a few Aurora owners going I need that! None have made their way here though.
