its been maybe 2 years since this subject came up around here. been in touch with these guys. they are in canada and can tune/ reprogram the eprom on '95 aurora. i asked if they could do the '96 - 99 since they had ecm vs eprom & they were pretty confident that they could but just need the car there in the facility to test. they have a dyno of course. they can tweek shift points, ignition timing, etc. i'd be all over this but by the time i got a passport & drove that far & back it would be very pricey . 1,300 miles one way from me. so besides robaurora01 who doesn't count as he's got a 2g v6. are there any classic owners in up there in canada? ya jimw that's who i was thinking of. maybe i'll do this eventually. as stated it would be a 3,000 mile round trip so the results had better be worth it. of course having a non autobahn that will do 140 would make it worth it IMO

nice find haskinaurora... $529.00 for the 4.0 i don't know how that compares to Westers after shipping and everything since the $200 quote is for '95 only.

Tuning is 400.
I don't need the vehicle just the ECU. I have to ship it out to my supplier for programming. Thank you, Tom Calandrino

Hmm that's interesting. Im from Winnipeg Manitoba, and I'm planning on road tripping it to BC in a month. Maybe Ill give them a call and maybe take a detour drop my baby off there take a rental to the mountains for a week and then come back pick her up and see if I can make it back through Saskatchewan in three hours Thank you for the info!!

Does anybody know how long tuning takes? Not long. I would guess no more than a few days turnaround max. It's just plugging in, and flashing a new rom. Literally takes seconds. If you want I can email or call them (they are relatively local to me) to find out for sure. But knowing Tilley Alberta, it isn't a very big place and I don't think they are a very "busy" shop

I contacted westers yesterday and they say it will be a two day turn around once they get my ecm. Has anyone had their aurora ecm done and have results? What to be expected from the tune? I hope it kills the torque managment so I can boil my tires.

What to be expected from the tune? Ask them He told me what they would do, here is the email where I asked him what they would do to it... Okay...so couple more questions. If I send you my ECM, what is the turn around time or how soon would it be before I get it back? Also, what are you planning on doing to the ECM? I want it to perform the best it can, so I have no restrictions and will be happy with anything you can do, I want to squeeze every last drop of power out of this car I can. Thank yoU!HIs response: 1. Once it arrives, it's sent 2nd day--these are considerably more work, and I try get to them immediately. 2. Reprogram it. 3. I understand--so make sure you indicate the fuel quality you have available.Doesn't say exactly what he's gonna do to it. I was hoping maybe someone had some experience with having their ECM reprogrammed and what I can expect from it.

If they really want to tune it for performance, they'll throw out the top speed limit & the torque management. And they should reset shift points higher, hopefully just short of the redline.

I'll probably be sending my ECM out this week. He told me $495 to reprogram it and that includes shipping it back. He told me to give him what I want out of the ECM reprogram and he'll do what he can. Will I be the first member to have wester's do an ecm? Perhaps I should make a before/after video?

You will def be the first. I kind of want to go to their shop and have them dyno before tune, then tune it and dyno again.
I have often thought of doing it, just other problems keep popping up that are more important than a tune.
Good luck and get as much data as you can before. Even find a local dyno and spend the $$ for a few pulls. then send out the ECM and repeat when it comes back. Take vids before of 0-100mph, 25-100mph, 50-100mph - recording data like octane level used, temps outside, etc etc etc. At the very least you will have a sort of baseline for what has been done so when you get your pcm back you can try to recreate those scenarios with a "tuned" car

^^^^ He's right...
That's imperative to proving that it will make a difference. I too would like to see results or facts on this as well... there have been some things I'm doing and will be doing that are going out on a limb to do, and hopefully they do well... I will tell if they do; I will also tell if they don't.
In other words, I won't be ashamed if I spent money or time and effort on something that was a complete let down and not worth it, I will be the first to let others know "Hey, don't do this, I tried it, it doesn't work. Learn from my burn..."
Some people are too proud to admit stuff like that and will persist that "Oh yeah man it's great it's awesome you should do it, I don't have any problems with *insert whatever you did*... when in reality the car runs like a POS and you should've left it alone... I HOPE! you're not like that; or anyone else on here for that matter. Let us know how it goes.
