Ok guys, I need your honest opinion.
Should I gut my airbox on my 2003 4.0? Does it make that big of a difference? Should I put a K&N filter in too?
If I should do it, how exactly do I? Does anyone have pics posted of how to do it with directions. The threads I am seeing are for the older model Auroras...I just dont want to ruin my car!!!

Keep an eye on the thread mentioned below. Someone there says that he'll post pics of it soon.

I would not call the difference "big". In fact, I'm not really sure I noticed a difference or if it was in my head.
If you can scan your car, you could monitor the MAP and MAF readings under WOT. Then remove the airbox and do it again. If there is no increased airflow or increased manifold pressure, it's not going to gain you anything.

I will in a week or so, I still have to install it. Randy has one setup right now but I have an idea that will blow his out of the water.

The stock box is a cold air intake. The 2g intake box is fed from outside the engine compartment behind the headlight.

It is kindof a cold air intake. It has a tube leading into the front fender. But it is of course restricted. Would be nice to make a custom cold air intake into the fron fender, but that would require some cutting and relocation of the PCM

If I ever find a junked Aurora in a salvage yard, I will be swapping back to the stock box. I hacked mine up to stuff a cone filter into it, and while satisfied with the results (pretty much an engine note mod), It just much cleaner with the stock configuration...

i took the divider out of my air box and imo it made quite a difference, i can really feel it on the expressway when passing cars.
