book is full of ******* again! take the manifold off after you remove the trans dipstick and the egr valve pipe. It will stay put, You will just move it around to get the crossover pipe out. All the other ******* they talk about doing DONT. Just remove your s pipe , make the manifold loose ....bolts out!! egr and dipstick all the way off . Install a new manifold gasket when you get done with crossover. You will need someone to hold up right manifold pipe while you remove the front crossover bolts as the pipe will be in the way a bit. DO NOT REMOVE ANY TRANSMISSION LINKAGE, BRAKE BOOSTER, OR ANYTHING else that doesnt make cents in the book. You will need a throttle body gasket, becareul removing that, leave throttle cables ON and just tilt it back out of the way. Thats just about it and if you want to paypal me a case a beer for saving you 5 hours of work I will not stop you!!

aurora01blk you definetly need a set or maybe just one swivel socket an some socket extentions to get back there; aurora2001tan is right you dont need to do the extra work, you dont even need to detach the front mani but be very careful when taking the "S" pipe bolts off they could brake off and it's a trip to the stealer to get the bolt if you are like me or at least to your local parts store if you know about cars. When removing the tranny dip be sure to get a pan under and buy some oil or reuse the one that came off, might not be a good idea but i'm not sure and finally, if you haven't do this before, just a lot of patience, you can do it for sure, but a lot of patience and for sure use your book for the proper torque for the reassamble good luck!!! and if any q's ask me i just did that about a month ago
