Another Blower motor or relay thread
« Thread Started on Oct 18, 2009, 5:05pm »

OK, I've researched and searched this forum about the blower motor issue. Mine quit. Wife took it to the dealership (Local Chevy place). They told her this car has two blower motors!? I don't know if it was because the shop was dealing with a woman, but they quoted $400 to "fix" it.

I just finished replacing the motor with a new Siemens (VDO) motor and I still have nothing. When I was under the dash I did not see anything that resembled a blower motor control module. I did see some type of actuator that opens and closes the blend doors. Where exactly is the blower motor control module on an 02 anyway?

I am looking into getting my own GM Shop Manual, but I will need to depend on the kindness of members here until I can get one ordered. Thanks for any help.

P.S. my neck and shoulders are still sore from laying under the pass side dash. ;D

Well, there does not appear to be much interest on this topic. However, I will state the 2001 uses a different blower motor control module than the 2002-03. I priced a replacement unit from Murray and it is $200 after the government gets their "share". Also, the blower control module is in a different location on the 02's and later. Can anyone tell me how common it is for this part to fail?

Thanks for any replies......

That they were dealing with a woman actually made no difference here. What does make the difference here is that they seem to be totally ignorant about this car. It has only one blower, as we all know.
Stay away from them. Stay far away from them.
Get the shop manual. You can get it from http://www.helminc.com
It's costly at $135, though. But they do show up on ebay.
And if you have to take the car to a dealer, go to a Cadillac dealer, which is what Olds advises on their site.

some 4.0's have 2 sec air system air pumps and thats maybe what they were saying. The blower and the control modules can be had on ebay for new and used cheap. I would put a motor in, if it has problems put in a control module too. the control module is the easy part. The blower is a pain in the butt. Be prepared to leave one screw out towards the firewall ;) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-Olds-A....sQ5fAccessories

Yeah that blower motor is a massive pain in the backside. I will still need the control module though. The new motor did not fix my problem. My wife won't be to thrilled to face "winter" in ARK driving a car with no heat......

Blower Motor Control Processor is located under the passenger side of the dash. #2 in picture below. Sounds like you'll need to remove the glove box to get to it.

Yeah, I figured I would. Thanks for the picture. I suspected the "box" next to the blower motor was the control module. Rock auto has the part for $110. I may try a couple of relays under the hood as a last resort before springing for the module. I doubt I would be that lucky (relay). I have to drive to Fort Worth in the morning sans HVAC. Good thing I can tilt the sunroof. I can check my mileage with the new NGK Iridium plugs I put in on Sunday. I figure I should get around 30 mpg. Before I go I may throw some fuel treatment in there just to keep the sending unit "happy".

Thanks for the help.....

OK, After a new blower motor and a control module I still do not have a working blower motor. Any ideas?

I wouldn't think the HVAC switch is bad. All the fan "l.e.d's" light up when you turn the blower speed up.

I plan on going back through everything again to check the connections. However I think I have everything connected properly.
