That was pretty smart using that homemade frame straightener.

Thanks! I didn't want to put any money into it, but I still wanted to drive it. I am still thinking about what to do with it.

Thank you guys for the compliments. Collins, this wasn't the first time this Aurora had been wrecked either. The drivers fender and door has been replaced and the rear door needs replaced. So come on down and pick it up. It also has a coolant leak, I haven't drove it for a month. I am trying to find a pressure tester for a good price. The ones I rent from Autozone don't screw on right. They will screw on, but they seem to damage the threads on the tank.

I actually wouldn't mind a 99' for a second car... I like the sublte differences between the years. The addition of the reverse mirror feature, a compass in the rearview mirror, new seatbelts, etc. I'll have to wait until I get a place to store it, tho. But yeah if I got a parts car I would want it to be a 96, that way I don't have to worry about whether or not a part will swap like with the seatbelt buckle.

its weird when you get hit or hit something in the rear end how the bumper always buckles like that it looks like when i hit the guard rail. Here is what mine looked like.... So sorry Randy it dont look to bad a new back bumper light and a little pulling out on that fender part the bumper i got put on mine only cost me $110, painted was $120 and put on was another $30 so all and all like $260 for the repair on mine but i got it all back to good before i traded it in.

Hey Randy,
Congrats on the repair. That was a smart idea to put the rear end in a ditch to keep it from sliding. I use to work at a body shop and we just used the two cemented poles on either side of the roll-up door and lots of chains.
The finished product looks great.
P.S. Sorry about your car froggyscike. I hate to see, read about or hear about another Aurora misfortune.

Collins, I have an extra mirror if you want it. And quit rubbing that seatbelt in my face, I can't have the right part all of the time! Froggy that is almost the same as mine! Shouldn't your crash thread be in this forum? I know I have read it before. Lee thanks for the compliment! That is good coming from a body shop guy!

I'm not trying to rub it in your face, I'm just saying that it's a subtle difference that many don't notice! ;D
I'll have the little bro get me the mirror for my birthday lol. That would be a cool present. Do you know if its just a plug and play from the 96 mirror to the newer one, or do I have to install some extra stuff for the compass to work?

I was just joking about the belt. I did know that '95s were different, way different, I just didn't know it carried over to '96. I do like the '97 and up belts better, they look like the back of an Aurora.
I don't know about the compass mirror. But I still have the headliner with all the wires intact so I can see what it will take. I wouldn't think to much, probably just an extra wire running from the map lights.

Back in Oct of 2007, I did just that from an Ll Bean co-worker. It was a green 1995 (no Autobahn). The MAIN reason fo rme selling it, was an attempt to rasie money to buy my Dad's 63 Starfire, and that paln backfired. The Aurora has issues , and Dad sold the Satfire to a cheap skate, in July of 2008. . Dad had the Starfire for 19 years and 7 months

And to think we had a discussion in this thread four years ago about me getting a parts car, and how I thought it would be cool to have a 1999... And now I have a 1999 parts car. The same car that I have pulled parts from to send to YOU, the guy that had 8 Auroras. Go figure. ;D it's weird how time works, huh?

I know i'm very late replying (I only read your first initial post Randy) but hey at least you didn't hurt the quarter panel that much, which is the hardest part in any wreck because you can't just remove it like a fender, bumper or door you have to have it welded in, puttied, skim-coated to make it look perfect.
If you don't have all the money right now i'd just replace your rear bumper and get to the q/p when you can, not sure if I saw if your tails or anything else was needing replaced but if so i'd do everything but the q/p if your low on cash right now!

Yeah, the car is long gone. I was driving it to the scrapyard one day and someone ended up buying it on the way.
