thats Really odd My Aurora needs that done Too!! So please make a write up on how to do It so I can do it for my Rora Will do. I'm sure it will be easy enough, just don't want to attempt it myself haha. I'll get a write up online after a while. It'll be a month and a half or so, though!

Do we have a head count for the meet yet? Just wondering. Since its a 3 1/2 hour drive i'll probably stay overnight in springfield... I know its probably a dumb question but there are hotels and stuff that I can stay at in Springfield, right? Never having been to a meet before I don't know how these things usually go, but I would love to get your guys's help with installing a new hangar for my left exhaust pipe. I don't want to attempt it myself lol. I also need to put in a new driver's rear side-marker bulb. What do you think? Randy, Jaysin, Lance, Craig, Tim, Rick, xjsman89. That's 9 Classics that will be lined up if everyone can make it. I also have a couple other people I am going to invite. Yes, there are plenty of places to stay in Springfield. If a motel is not in your budget I have a tent and air mattress you can use, just bring pillows and blankets. And yes we can work on your Aurora while you are here.

And yes we can work on your Aurora while you are here. I've got my own tent and matress that I can bring, it's not a problem. I wasn't aware that you allowed camping lol, that would be the ideal situation. I'll start the part search now so that i'll be prepared to put you guys to work! I'm going to try and get a hold of a new air deflector as well. I'm totally pumped for the meet... It'll be nice to see so many classics in one place!

hey how hard is it to make the clearconer lenses? I read the write-up and didn't know if it was do-able, but if I brought the parts could we do that to? If its too big of a job then don't worry about it, just wondering!
I can't believe you don't have these already, Lance... maybe we could do yours too?

Might be a pretty tough job. I have been working on some, it's messy. Bring them if you want!

I have been thinking about some activities for next years meet. I found out there is a annual car show in Aurora. This year it was the weekend before our meet. I thought we could go out there for a day if we line them up for the same weekend. I bet they would like to see us there. I also thought that we could go out to the dragstrip for a couple hours. There is a quarter mile dragstrip 20 miles from my house. Nothing serious, we could just have some fun and make some sweet videos. Let me know what you think.

hhmm, odd this thread is still active since the meet is history now. let's definetely go to the dragstrip next time!! it would be cool to see a convoy of classics going down the highway too! passing motorists would be confused lol. yea Collin, the clear corners aren't one of my big priorities right now. window tint, performance exhaust & white brake dust covers are more on top of the list. come spring time i want to make a better video of the meet. i'll need a new camera first though. i was hurrying along on the last video for whatever reason. hey Collin i took 33 short vids from the last 2 meets and a few vids off youtube. i combined them all together into a short movie 20 min 42 seconds long. your car makes an appearance twice. once when we were parked side by side in the field and i was doing walk arounds, then the clip of you screaching off by Mc Donalds. i'm making a copy for Randy. shoot me your address and i'll mail you a copy too. it would be cool to watch on a big screen with surround sound! unfortunately every 30 seconds a message comes up in the middle of the screen, something about it being made with an unregistered copy of the program. oh well, its cool nontheless.

I'm definitely down for the dragstrip. It'll be awesome! I'll shoot you my address lance, check your inbox.
I can't believe there aren't more people from our area around here... you would think there would be! I saw more Auroras in Springfield in the couple days that I was there than a whole week's worth of driving in Lawrence!

Resurrecting an old thread, I know. I'm not sure if you guys will be able to make it to the midwest meet, but if not we should definitely have another Springfield Meet. What do you guys think?
Didn't we have some new blood on the site from the area? Where is he at?

He is still around, aurora9740.
I am all about it, I still want us to all go to the Aurora carshow. And then see if we can go to the 1/4 track if they are having a race we can do on the right night.

Hey, we could stick it in the middle of some. And if you have some of those Buick portholes we can help you take them off.

I have checked with the dragstrip and they have open nights on Fridays. Racing starts at 5 pm. I also checked with the Aurora chamber of commerce to see about the car show. It is on a Saturday Oct 3rd and it is for Classic automobiles. I have tried the # and haven't got an answer yet. I don't know if Auroras are considered classic. But, since we are Auroras I hope they might make an example. I will find out some answers and then we can decide. If possible I would like for us to get a date set very soon. We need to make some kind of fliers or something and really get it out there. Hit up the other Oldsmobile forums and cardomain and whatever. www.auroramochamber.com/calendar.htmlwww.ozarkracewaypark.com/schedule.html

If this meet is for the fall count me in. I'll lay the rubber down and show xjs that straight pipes are nothing compared to my cars engine cover performance mod. LOL

My hood paint is fading though. I don't think I would want to represent our cars with a messed up hood.

How many hoods do you have in your garage, Randy? Two? and that's not counting the ones on your parts cars, right? Zach you'll be amazed at his place... it's Aurora Heaven. We HAVE to go to the drag strip too. What's all this about an engine cover mod? I must have missed that thread but it's ok. I'm not scared of you. My straight pipes and I will take you on any day. ;D I'm down to get a date set. If you want to do it around the Aurora, MO car show then that's fine with me. If that conflicts with a time that Tyler and Zach can be there, though, I'd rather wait until they can make it. What date is that, specifically? The only time that is occupied for me is the weekend of September 18th. my classic still isnt pretty enough to sit next to yall's Don't let that hold you back! You should come up and meet with us. It'll be an adventure. By the way, if you look closely in the previous Springfield meet thread you'll see that Randy's red aurora had a silver rear bumper for the last meet. We don't care what shape your Aurora is in, we still want you there. Besides, Randy will have a couple parts cars and they'll be in worse shape then yours anyway so it's all good.

Friday, Oct 2nd is when we can go to the 1/4 mile track, 5pm is when it starts. Saturday, Oct 3rd is the day of the Aurora car show, permitting that they will let us have Auroras in it. I will try to contact them again tomorrow.
I agree, if that is a problem with anyone's schedule when can move it around. They usually have the open racing on Friday nights, so we will at least be able to keep that in the plans.

I have one hood hanging in my garage. The 2 on my parts cars are actually destroyed. But I do have a green '95, the one from KC, that is in limbo. I don't know if it will be a parts car yet or not. It has a good hood on it. The engine cover mod is just removing the cover. I got the idea from Kliffsaurora. I like to be able to see that badazz motor. And Marc says it probably releases more heat, therefore adding a couple horsepower. And my Autobahn was even bashed up a little. It can all be hidden with camera angles.

I will have to juggle with school but I imagine I can have a doctors appointment on said friday and avoid school. than again I dont know how college is so I might not even have to make up an excuse. I will more than likely be in aurora parts heaven! a new hood...I would drool over, but only if time/money/supplies work out. I am available throughout the entre month of october. I would like to avoid the end of october due to the weather cooling down. But I would definately consider myself in for this one also

I get out of class at noon on Fridays, I could make it there by 5 easy.
Tyler, you'll be passing right through Leawood/Overland Park (my hometown) on the way to Springfield. I could just leave Lawrence after I get out of class and wait for you back at home... Maybe we could meet up at my Mom's house around 1/1:30 and continue to Randy's from there?

You don't need excuses in college. The teachers don't care if you show up or not. The only thing you would need a note for is if you missed a test or something. It's good to hear you'll be coming, it'll be good to have you.
