The search engine will not allow a search for 3 letter words. I need some help finding some information about this problem here if there is any. I think I know what the hard fix is but I am now in search of easy fixs first. SYMPTOM: Last week when weather was getting warmer my car had some episodes of the " air bag problem " going nuts in the dic. Was kinda erratic and the timing was not consistant. I could hit reset and the air bag light would stay on. then it got cold again and the problem stopped! SECOND WEEK SYMPTOM: Now this week as it is warming up again to about 60 degrees I saw something different. First episode was a constand " air bag problem " warning for a few seconds and then the dic would clear and the red air bag light would go off!!!!! 15 seconds later this would repeat. again and again and again for several miles. Finally, I stopped and restarted the car. I then still got the warning but not in a looping manner. Warning would display and I would reset BUT the red air bag light would stay on. If anyone can find some old info on this problem or knows some confirmed easy fixs you would have my graditude! Lol Its not funny like kentucky fried movie but kinda

kick the front end of your car really really really hard....the light will go away and you might have a new storage compartment on the steering wheel lol

Can't you have this scanned at the dealer ? If it is a sensor bad or going bad, it will come up with an error code if the air bag light is on, right? I'd also check all the wiring it kind of sounds like an intermittent short ina wire somewhere.

Maybe if it comes back you could unplug your battery for a bit. Honestly I don't have a clue. I just wanted to say something so I could quote you. "going nuts in the dic" Sorry!

lol thats some funny stuff you guys but hells bells I cant stand this car freaking out on me about a damn air bag. I might have to have it scanned with a tech 2. As far as I can tell there are NO CODES. No engine light on. I dont think it will code on the light, I dont know. The module for this is under the console. You have to take the front seats out and the center console. uhhhhhhh whoever made that decision id like to break both of their arms.

I'm still betting on a sensor somewhere is at fault. From what I have read this won't produce an SES. It will produce the air bag light which you have intermittently.

Sounds like moisture and sensors, this car basically swims in water!! under the back seat in the trunk sometimes under the hood! ;D oh yeah the mats like to stay wet to!!

Maybe the red light is here to stay now, i dont know.

It's got to be a sensor, get that Aurora scanned! I'm pretty sure the air bag is not going to throw an SES code. Has nothing to do with the engine. That's why it has it's own light. Dealer should be able to pinpoint it!

I have the same issue with air bag error. It would fail when it was cold. After it warmed up (either heater or seat heater) and a restart, it was ok. After a few months it was more consistant. I had it scanned (not at dealer), but it didn't set a code. In the summer I would keep the windows up and the extreme heat would fix it. I took it to the mechanic when it was "well" and his scanner couldn't talk to the airbag/seat belt system. (it wouldn't talk with an error, either.) I think that's why there's no code set. Still have the problem.........I did have water in the carpet, too. I think it's a bad connection...

A couple days ago I started beating on the air bag in the steering wheel with the palm of my hand and the red light went off!! Stayed off for a couple days and it just came back on again today. No intermittant fault just rest the DIC message and solid red light. At least this is a kinda easy fix, has to just be a bad connection under the bag. I wasnt wanting to remove the console and the seats.

I have this problem on my 03 Avalanche. With the Avalanche its a plug in the lower kick panel near your left foot. If you unplug and replug the connection the warning goes away. It may be a similar problem with the Aurora. I will check Alldata and see if any TSBs exist.

I'm more worried of the air bag deploying while your driving down the interstate. Id get this fixed ASAP You dont like GM engineers either do you? The system is simply not designed to work that way. With it showing a red light it is simply unable to function and disabled by the SDM (system diagnostic module ) and there will be NO deployment by mistake or accident.
