Was all done replacing 2 on the left side - plugged in and they worked - bent the bulb a bit to get the lighting brightness correct and ZAP .... all 4 went out. Debating whether I'll just leave them all dead. :-(

Does anyone know if the replacement steering wheel switches come with light bulbs installed? This sounds like a stupid question, but the fact is I am a lousy solderer and I can get the switches for $37 apiece; and there's so much paint missing from the radio switch, this seems like the best option..

So Looking at this thread... I was wondering has anyone done a upgrade to LED on the 2g steering wheel controls? (really only interested in LED for switches as they should be long life)

A question on the Trip A/B reset switch to replace the light bulb.. The FSM basically tells you to take the instrument panel apart to get at it. I removed the knee bolster, but I cant quite reach the release clip with my fingers to pull the switch out. Is there a way to do this, perhaps with a bent flat blade screwdriver? If anyone has done this I'd like to know how you did it. Thanks! John

^ Get a plastic trim tool and just pop it out on either side. Do not try to pry from the top or bottom. No need to take any dash pieces off. Careful with a screwdriver to not gouge the vinyl.

Thanks awehlage, I'll have a go at carefully trying to pry it from side to side and hope that I'll get it to pop out. Time to get the soldering iron out once again.....

Anybody know where to get the steering wheel bulbs now that Radio Shack is out of business?

RadioShack.com, Ebay, Amazon?

I think I was looking for too specific of a bulb. The one that RadioShack used to carry looks either out of stock or entirely unavailable. Amazon had a bulb of a different name that appeared to be identical.

www.radioshack.com/products/radioshack-12v-microlamps-2-pack They're sold out online but I requested a email when they came in stock a few months ago and they did come back in stock. But any similar bulb "2-pack of replacement flashlight and incandescent microlamps. Rated 12V with a current of 60mA"

I got my bulbs on eBay "bulbsandbatteries" Box of 10 #7219 lamp bulbs 12V, 60mA, 072 Watt. took 5 days and cost $10.00. They have the long leads but easy to cut and work great. No Subject 2.eml (707.05 KB) No Subject.eml (812.29 KB)
