HAS ANYONE TRIED TO USE OR KNOW IF THEY MAKE ONE. MY A/C COMPRESSOR IS MAKES QUITE THE NOISE, I THOUGHT IT WAS THE IDLER PULLEY AND/OR THE TENSIONER PULLEY SO I REPLACED THEM BOTH ONLY TO FIND THAT THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE. THE PART IS OVER 500 FOR THE A/C COMPRESSOR ANY I DON'T SUE THE A/C ALL THAT MUCH SO THAT'S WHY I WAS WONDERING OF THERE IS A BYPASS PULLEY?

you would want a bypass belt. IDK where to get it, but jason does, he has given others the part number. ask him (hopefully he chimes in and tells you)

I have a 97' aurora and was searching for the same problem about two weeks ago because my compressor froze up! and had ran across this post as well and had found this belt part # which you can't find in a parts store for a replacement for a bypass belt....thanks for taking the time and making life much easier you saved me about $700.00.

compressors are under 100usd on ebay. stop getting ripped off by 'stealerships'. ....next thing you'll want to bypass the engine itself joking

Ok, reviving this thread. The pulley on my AC compressor went bad. So now i need a whole new compressor but i dont have that kind of money. Looking around on the internet i found SEVERAL people, all saying the same thing. For a 97 Aurora 4.0l the 47.5" belt is the right one to bypass AC. Now i know theres no way in hell that will work. (tried, it would never fit) Do you guys have the length of belt i need? the inch length. That picture posted earlier is no help as the guys have no idea. Perhaps the part number changed? anywho. no way im going to napa. To spendy.
So if anyone knows, it would be much appreciated as now i have no car for work. Go figure.

The thing that sucks the most when the compressor goes bad is, it affects your defrost mode severely!!! Now you cannot remove the moisture out of the air.

UPDATE The correct belt size, 6rib, 74.5" serpentine belt. Threw it on the other day, works like a charm. No more squeak

Yeah, I put a Cadillac bypass pulley on mine a few years ago, they don't make them for Auroras. After I replaced it 3 times I finally got a shorter belt, the 3 I got all squeaked so bad I could not stand it. I still have that pulley somewhere, I think it's still on my car, I should at least warranty it. Anyone want to buy a nice bypass pulley guaranteed to squeak after a week?

I wanna bump this thread and say thanks to you all who have posted part numbers. My a/c hasn't worked for a year and now I have a front engine noise and slight cooking odor which changes when I activate the compressor so I'm going to try the bypass belt and see if that solves my problem

Just wanted to say the K060739 fit like a glove on my 97 and solved the immediate problem.
On a side note, I figured out a trick to holding the tensioner open which made putting the new belt on easier.
Using about a 6" long half inch drive extension and a half inch ratchet I pulled back the tensioner then held my assembly in place with a screwdriver through that top slot in our power steering pulley bracket I guess it is. So it wouldn't slip with my fingers in a silly spot I put a piece of wood on the back side of the ratchet. Then I was able to keep the tensioner in the slack position while working the belt with BOTH hands. Much easier. Hope that made sense.

I want to chime in on the AC compressor. I too, almost gonna go this route suggested in this thread. Then I found the remanufactured AC Compressor at great price here is the eBay link. It has a year warranty if installed by professional.
