Well, at least you got the car back in good shape and it didn't cost you a ton. So that's better than having to do the head gaskets.

;)I'm in the process of repacing both head gaskets on my 1997 Aurora and the motor will come out the top but I have to say I would not do it for $850. I hope you get a good job done and be sure and thank your mechanic for the work he does. Olds. Aurora parts are as high as Cadillac parts so hopefully the parts you use are as good as genuine GM parts. Good Luck!

i luckely ended up not having to replace the head gaskets, the mechanic i took it to said if they would've been bad he would've had to send it to the dealer, he said the dealer quoted him around $4000. if it were that much i would just pull the motor and stick in a 4.6L crate motor, and get the computer tuned and all that good stuff. but i'm sure my dad would've made me sell the car long before he would ever allow me to consider that option, lol.

here is an excellent alternative to head gasket actual replacement: www.rxauto.com/This is a great product. Highly recommended by me! This stuff has worked both times I used it. No complaints what-so-ever. (This will do for your blown H/G what Auto-Rx does for your engine!)

i might be crazy but looking at the under carrige the main exaust pipe seem a bit restrictive. a 4' pipe would look better there
