I've ordered the under car air deflector, assuming mine is missing because I don't see anything under the front of the car to divert air up to the radiator, + it runs hotter at highway speeds. Anyone able to post a picture of the underside of the car showing the air diverter/deflector? Would like to know what it should look like when I get the part.
Thanks much!

Ya, I can post one tonight.
The front portion is curved to match the profile of the curb guard with little slot tabs to slide into the guard. The back portion is flat and curved upwards at 90 degrees to match up with the front axle guard (best description I can come up with right now). There are also push tabs (one time use) to hold it in place across the middle section.

BTW-forgot to add, Jim, this is Sid Coleman. For some reason, I couldn't re-register with my name, so I experimented and got this. Works for me Thanks for all your help. Sid

I don't have that part either. It fell off one night (I guess I didn't put it on righ when I changed the coolant) and started dragging on the ground. So I just tore it off and put it in the trunk. Now it's sitting on the floor in my garage.

I'm in the same situation where I also need the lower deflector. My car is running hotter on the road than it used to. Have you received/installed your order? I checked the site and found they didnt have an imageof the part. Please let us know how that worked out!

Thanks for posting the info! I'm in the same situation where I also need the lower deflector. My car is running hotter on the road than it used to. Have you received/installed your order? I checked the site and found they didnt have an imageof the part. Please let us know how that worked out! Like Blue97olds I needed #9 too as well as #2 (don't forget to order the fasteners #3 {2 packs}). The parts just came in (took about 4-5 weeks) and I installed them 2 days ago. Perfect fit. #2 came equipped with many more clips to receive screws, something my old #2 did not have and probably why the heavy snow tore it off. I used a cordless drill to make the additional holes under the bumper's lowere edge (just eyeballed to line 'em up) and used stainless screws and washers I already had to complete the installation. Try to get some black lower profile screws if you can because the screws I used are a little more visible than I would like. Part # 2 is located in (>catalog>then enter your vehicle>collision tab>bumper/grill>bumper>baffle) dont't forget to order #3 "cover retainer" 5 lines down(10 to a pack I think). Part #9 is located in >engine>cooling>air deflector Having these parts back on my Aurora ,especially #2, has tightened up the whole bumper assembly and the difference is noticable while driving.

I received it, according to my wife. I travel for work, and am in Denver until this weekend. Hopefully I can put it on the car Monday and I'll see how it fits, and hopefully it helps! Glad I could help!

i don't think i have number nine what all do i need to order to put it on? how much difference in temp does it make? The following pictures are of the GMPartsDirect catalog. These parts can be tough to dig up on their website so I thought I would help out... These pages are accessed through the "catalog" tab at: www.gmpartsdirect.com/#9 is the most important one that always seems to be missing. Items #3 and #5 are critical also to making this "Lower Air Deflector" work properly. If your deflector has been missing for a while then check to see if these foam-sticky-tape-backed parts are still in place. This is what the GMpartsdirect page looks like: 11 retainers I believe are needed (10 to a pack at $0.45 ea.) The GMpartsdirect page looks like this: #2's GMparts direct page looks like this: Sorry the pics are so big but I figured I already spread out this page before so what the heck...

#9 as well as #s 3 and 5 on the first diagram are an integrated part of the cooling system. Missing, they allow air to be partially diverted AWAY from the radiator and if you do not have them in place then you are not getting the full flow of air as originally designed into the car.
I was never missing #9 but replaced it because it was damaged. I know others on this board may have had cooling issues do this part being missing.

Nice job - tough pics to get.
Looks like you could use a new #2 yourself. $20 + shipping

I want to thank Omegaic for posting those pics.
I need a digital camera.
I installed both of those parts last night. I got my 'Rora a little while ago and both of those parts were missing. If it wasn't for your pics (and, of course, the ANCA, in general) I wouldn't have known why my car was getting hot on the highway.
One note, though. My air dam (the perpendicular-to-the-ground-piece) seems secure, but is held in place by only the three push-pins that also hold the lower air deflector (the parallel-to-the-ground-thing). The air dam is mated to the bumper cover by a kind of dovetail slot(s) but there are multiple holes in the bumper cover and the air dam that line up to accept screws (and not push-pins), but it dosen't seem as if it needs the screws.
Does anyone have a comment about this? I am inclined to leave it as it is, sans screws.
Thanks,
|

Originally, my 97 had no holes and only the 3 push-in fasteners you spoke of. The replacement air dam had the holes so I used them with stainless steel screws + washers. The screws help stiffen all that stuff up front as well as help keep the air dam in place. I noticed a big difference and I don't have to pop the air dam back into place every other week any more.

tks,
I may as well put some screws in there. For five minutes of my time, it couldn't hurt.
