Just did it this afternoon, pretty easy job... maybe 15min
It would be pretty clear if you have a tensioner in hand.
1. Take the belt cover off
10mm socket
2 bolts on the side
1 bolt on the right of FPR, very close to lower fuel line(get the right tool )
2. Loose belt tensioner
See the shiny bolt
13mm socket, turn it towards the windshield(I hope this is less confusion) to release the tension
slide the belt off the tensioner and the crankshaft pulley
3.remove the belt tensioner
10mm wrench IIRR
(my socket bar doesn't leave enough room for the long screw;))
only 2 screws holding the tensioner, easy on the second one Don't let the tensioner fall
4.remove the belt
When the tensioner is gone, it should be a lot easier to take the belt out
Take your time to figure out what is the easiest way to route the belt, and practice by installing the old belt ;D
5.inspect belt tensioner & belt. replace broken ones, reinstall
make sure the belt seats properly on the pulley, dont break its rib
6.Don't forget to install the belt cover
7. If u took the resonator on air intake off, put if back before starting the engine (I forgot this again today...)
8.start the engine with caution
the new belt may explode if something goes wrong
question:
1. how to remove the belt without removing the tensioner?(slide the belt to the left of all 3 pulleys?)
note:
1. if you need to remove the crankshaft pulley, u probably need J-38825 Pulley Remover and J-38823 Pulley Installer
2. Alldata says it's dangerous to cut a belt with tension
3. The belts and tensioners on driver side(water pump belt, 3 ribs, shorter) and passenger side(accessory belt, 6 ribs, longer). Only 3 pulleys on passenger side belt: crankshaft, tensioner, water pump
additional pics:
the other sides of tensioner
I guess replacing the accessory belt would be a lot more work... not ready for that yet...
