I finally found one! It's a 1999 with 199K and a set of blown heads. I'm picking it up after thanksgiving so I can't say it's 100% until I have it on the trailer heading back home, but I worked it all out with the seller and I'm positive that he's going to hold it for me.
A little about the car:
The gentleman that I'm buying it from is the original owner. His wife drove it for years, then he drove it for a while until the heads blew. It's a midnight blue metallic with gray interior in superb shape. (Need any body parts, you Midnight Blue Metallic peeps?) I'm just going to use it for parts for a while, the repair bills with the dealer parts are absolutely killing me with my 96.
I'm really looking forward to getting it. It will be sweet to finally have two! ;D If anyone needs any parts just shoot me a PM and I'll see if I can get it for you. Randy has already claimed a few haha. I'd like to keep some of the major components for myself but it never hurts to ask, right?
I'll post pictures when I pick it up, like I said I'm not going to be able to make it down there until after thanksgiving. I'm not saying where it is until I pick it up either, I don't want any of you scalping her from me! ;D ;D ;D

That sounds like a great find there. But, watch out, I bought a parts car and couldnt stand the thought of messing up that pretty thing. Fixed it and sold it to a friend and went back to looking again. Auroraholics Anonymous 1-IHa-veP-arts

Haha fair enough. I might consider it if the heads weren't blown. I don't want to dive into that particular venture on mine, let alone a parts car. Thankfully mine haven't blown yet lol. ;D

Yep, gray interior! Wouldn't be my first choice (I would have liked tan so that I could interchange parts if it couldn't be black to do a complete swap) but my interior is in really good condition, I doubt his is better. He said it was in great shape though, no rips or tears in anything. I'll probably use the seats in my bedroom's sitting area if I can't find a buyer haha. You want the interior, Nelson? ;D

Congrats on #2 for you! How bad are they blown? Some just overheat here and there, some overheat all the time, and a few are so blown they blow antifreeze out the exhaust. I am saying this because AutoZone has some stuff for like $60, it looks like washer fluid. It says it is guaranteed to fix head gasket problems, even says Northstars on it. If it's not blown bad, might be a good experiment to see if that stuff works. Maybe some people would chip in to see if it does work, I would. Then you could still use it for a parts car, lol. Just part it out while you drive it on the side.

Sounds good, Randy! Might be worth a try. I'm not sure how bad they're blown, but he said it does overheat a lot and coolant gets in the oil. If someone is going to try it though a parts car is the place to do it.
That doesn't sound like a problem, Nelson. You either, Lathan. As long as you know it's gray and not black I'll send you whatever! I'd like to keep stuff like the alternator, hubs, radiator... You know, big parts. I don't have much use for the interior. I'd like to sell the body parts too if someone would buy them. Who knows!

I picked it up today! It was about 12 hours of driving total, not too bad. Got the car for $500 bucks. I secured the sale by letting him keep the wheels b/c he had just put tires on it. The car is just going to be sitting in storage at the old GM Leeds, MO plant anyway so it doesn't need good tires. It's a 1999 with 199,600 miles. Gray interior and Midnight Blue Metallic exterior. Full BOSE system, sunroof (that I am stealing very soon bc my motor stops are shot) and a lot of new components. I got it so cheap because of the blown heads, but it still runs. I drove it onto the trailer! It just can't be driven for more than 20 minutes at a time. ;D I'm excited, though! I've got two Auroras down, only six more to go to beat Randy's record. ;D ;D ;D

Call me sometime and we can work it out. I don't have any use for it! If you want it it's yours. It's sure going to be fun pulling it, wires and all! ;D

It's quite a pain to get the speaker wires out of the looms, I'd suggest cutting them under the back seat just after the connector that comes from the amp (this connector also has amp power from the fuse box.) Just run new wires from there to the doors, much easier. Also the section that goes from the head unit to the driver's side pillar is near impossible to extract without pulling the entire dash etc. There's a connector on the pillar then the wires run back to the amp. Four shielded signal wires plus ground and the pink 'amp power' wire are bundled (taped) together with the antenna wire running to the back. Again, I'd cut this either right before or right after the connector and just splice new wires from there to the h/u. Just my $.02, knowing the ins & outs of this.

You will have to do better than 7, Collins, I think I have had 12-13 of them, I will have to check. Congrats! That is a sweet looking Aurora!

Yeah, if Dan wants the wires and I have to pull them then it probably won't be free haha. And I would've if you would have told me, Rob! For real! Your loss haha.
I was thinking 8 at once, Randy. but 14 total sounds like a more impressive figure. ;D
I'll throw some pictures up when I see it next!

It's on my list of stuff to replace when I go down to Springfield and make Randy replace stuff for me. ;D I know, isn't the LED panel sweet? It really finishes out the rear end. I wish the car were cleaner, it would make for the perfect picture.

That thing is super clean compared to what mine looked like when i bought it haha. It would clean up really nicely, Do you think the car's worth making roadable again? Were you able to get those speaker covers? Also, your projectors look sweet in that vid!!!

Well it would need some body work and either a new engine or a rebuild on this one. The interior is all great but I dunno. I wouldn't rebuild it in my current situation, maybe if I could do it myself I would. You tell me!
Thanks tho! I like the projectors too. They were a great mod to do. I'm getting the speaker covers next week when I return the truck tho, I had to borrow one of my dads work trucks.

Still got Bose parts in there? Let me know if they're available (amp, sub driver, h/u, ant.) I'd be pretty tempted to find a used engine and fix it... looks to be in overall better shape than mine. Cool video and pics btw.

The car overall looks really nice IMO. Looks like it'd be a tight squeeze to get that stuff out of there if you don't move the car man lol

Thanks guys! Yep still have all the Bose parts, Nelson wants the tweeter covers and window felts but I haven't had time to go down there and pull them yet haha. I wanted to keep it as a parts car and I couldn't justify all I did to get it here just to sell it and break even. If you wanted to buy it and fix it up we could work something out but I paid a lot in gas getting it back here, and I couldn't take a loss on the car. I would have to trade you for yours or something so I still have a parts car haha. And I'm not going to even ask that bc if someone asked me that I would be offended! If you'd really be up for it let me know. As I said earlier I had to secure the sale by letting the previous owner keep the wheels so he wouldn't sell it out from under me, we could swap wheels or whatever tho. I assume that i would keep the doughnuts, no problem there. No parts pulled yet but if something breaks tomorrow I'll have to dig in!
There are some problems. Some of the wood in back is peeling off the cigarette tray but nothing too bad. The passenger grab handle spring is busted. The fabric strips on the visors are loose. Trunk and hood struts are both shot. But no rips or tears or anything! Its all still in good condition overall.
Yeah I need to move it lol. The car looses juice (no surprise there with a couple months in the cold and not driving it. Havent driven it for more than 20 minutes total probably.) I forgot my battery jumper so I couldn't move it.

You should consider trying the blue devil head gasket sealant. They claim it works on Northstars! And claima 90% success rate, money back blah blah. I mean you don't have anything to lose and it would be awesome to know f it works because I've always wondered. I'm usually a naysayer on these products but I have read threads at caddy forums and testimonials on blue devils site and it supposedly works. www.usasealants.com/products/blue-devil-head-gasket-sealant/You can get it for $30 after $20 off $50 online at advance auto. I'd even open paypal account for donations for you to try it haha.

ya sall i used some of that blue devil on a ford with a bad head gasket! (blow by)worked fine cars still on the road!
the only prob is 99% of head gasket fail on the northstar and the like is the dexcool eating the gasket, and getting into the head bolt threads in the aluminum block and turning them into dust! thats why the bolts pull, and the real fix is inserts. don't know if anybody ever tryed helicoil, or just drill and tap a bigger hole and use a common stud. can't see as why that wouldn't work! but then again i never had a need to try it.
