Hello guys.
I have a weird problem here on my F500. When I bought it, the last owner said to me : The A/C doesn't work, the compressor is good (a 3 years old unit), but it has a leak of refrigerant somewhere. As I tried it, it did blow warm air from the outside (+/-25°C, I just checked on the driver side). Ah well, something else to repair.
So today, I did refill of refrigerant my A/C system with a kit they sold at Canadian tire (kit to refill your system yourself). Well, it was near full BEFORE I put new refrigerant in it... So there wasn't really a leak on this system.
During the ''fill up'' (well, I didn't add a big quantity, since it was already near full), I did put the A/C on maximum, by the passenger side. What a surprise. With the two air traps on the passenger side, I got ice cold air.
I put my hand on those traps on the driver side, warm air, from the outside. WTF? Is there a sort of by-pass door inside the air system that can completely separate driver and passenger side (and that can be stuck)? or something like two evaporators and one of those is plugged?
If I put the heat on, both sides get hot air at the same temperature.
Thank you for your help.

Could be stuck door or actuator that died.

welcome to the failed blend door actuator club. They cost about $100 and are fairly easy to replace. You can set them in position and then unplug them to limp by until you get around to fixing them the right way.

Yup that's exactly what you need. Mine had the exact same symptoms, the exact. I replaced that bad boy, and had icy air threw out the car. Literally takes 10 minutes to change.

Hi guys,
I have the same problem as of today, regular warm air on the driver side and cold air on the passanger side. I've seen the notes above but for me this is like ''chinese'' :-) as I don't know where this part is located!!!!! I would like to change it myself but I just need some input: some pictures or diagrams would be greatly helpful. Thank you.

You have to remove the kick panel on driver side its on clips. Then you have to remove bcm that will be on your way to get to the part. Then you will see two of them it’s the one closer to you like on picture below there are 3 screws. remove one put another one in but u have to spend some time under the dash not the best feeling but cheaper than paying 100$ for labor to someone else:).

Hello, Well, I spent all morning trying to find this actuator and after lots of cursing I gave up, I'm sorry but there is no way you change this part in 10 minutes when you spend over 1 hour looking for it. I even removed the carpet on the floor on the driver's side. I removed the panels under the steering wheel and found nothing as this, only something a little bit similar, right behind the center console, below the ignition key. I was unable to reach it as well due to another block in front of it. Sorry, but without a clear picture, it is like looking with your eyes closed. There are bolt and clips down there, not just a few clips. There's nothing like that diagram shows down there, unless you have to take the whole dash out. Honestly, I want to see the person that changes this part in 10 minutes from A to Z. Thank you

Make sure you get the driver side one not the pass side one. The part number for the driver side is 15824379. This number was later changed to 52402599. Pass side does fit the driver side but the motor turns in the opposite direction. On the old part number, the Pass side has a big "R" and the driver side has a big "S" on it.
The driver side is a little hidden on the driver side.
I am actually going to the Pull and Save today to grab one. They are stupidly expensive on line.

Well, my problem is that I CAN'T FIND IT in the car, part number is the least of my problems, when I can't even find the darn part under the dash

Start with going to the driver side. Put the seat all the back There is a black knee guard. It is held in with two small screws and one push pin. After you take off the two two screws, When you wiggle the the back cover, the push pin will just come out.
There are two wires that are connected to this cover. One is the light and the other is a sensor. The light has a blue quick disconnect connector. The sensor just twists out.
The cover is now completely free. Just put the cover aside.
Finding the sensor:
It is kind of hidden. It is located towards the Center console, on the driver side. There is big black square thing that is in front of it. This thing is held in by one screw. The size is about 7" by 7". Take the one black screw out and this box can be wiggle free. Leave the square box hanging. Don't disconnect any wires from the square box. The actuator is right behind it. There is one cable that is connected to it. It is a quick release. Just squeeze and pull. It comes right out. There are only TWO screws hold the actuator in place. You will need a small socket 5.5mm in size. There is one gold screw you can see. The other 5.5mm screw is on the top, that you can see but easily feel and get the socket on it. Once those two screws are out, it just wiggles out.
I can now take these out in about 5 minutes.
If you want to see if that is the actual problem, once the square peace is hanging, you can see a silver round peace in the middle of the actuator. Raise and lower the AC temp. the silver peace should turn. You can test the new one before installing it by just plugging in the wire to the new one and raise and lower the AC temp. It should turn back and forth.
Let me know if you can't find it and we can figure out a way to talk on the phone when you are working on the car.

I know about the plate tied up with 2 bolts and a black cap. I took it off already, disconnected the light and sensor and I just took a couple of pictures with what I see over there underneath but remember, I just inserted my hand with the camera and took random pictures, I have no way to remove anything from there even if I remove the driver seat out of the car, I simply don't see how!!!!! Look at the pics and tell me what my camera saw basically

In your second picture I can see it. It is the part that has the green "S" on it. The part that Paul circled in Red is the part that is held in by one screw. Once you take that one screw out, and get the you will see the silver that should move when you raise and lower the temp.

Remember that the two bolts are the 5.5mm. Don't take off the philips head screws. Also in the second picture, right below the "S", there is the red piece. That is the wire connector for the actuator.

There's no way I can take the BCM out, I can barely see it, easier with the camera. I can't even see the bolt holding the BCM and I have no room to play and take it out, I tried already, some white plugs/parts are in front of the BCM and I can't remove them, I don't want to force them out.The only thing I managed to do is plug & unplug the red plug on the door actuator.

The screw is where the red arrow is. The little screw is the same size as the screws holding the little panel you took off first.

The yellow arrow is one of two 5.5mm screws that you take out. The other is on the top.

Thanks for the help but I handed the ''case'' to my buddy, a GM mechanic who does all my ''hard jobs'', so he'll get the actuator for $130(AC Delco) and install it for $20

No problem. If you ever need to do the pass side. The pass side is not hidden at all after you take of the glove box.

Didn't even had a chance to replace the actuator yet and just notice a huge pool of oil and trail of oil in the parking lot from the Aurora. It's dripping like water from a fawcet, from the front left side(passanger) right under the bumper. I put my hand so it can drip directly in my hand, so the color of the oil is red but the transmission is on the other side, can it be the cooler lines? Anyone had a similar problem? Thank you

Passenger side behind the bumper is where the cooler lines enter the radiator. May be a cracked line, cracked side tank, or just a leaky seal. Really odd that it would just spring a leak, but crazier things have happened.
