Thank you for the heads up on the wiring for this stereo, I had the same version and do confirm that the wires opposite from the blue wire are the correct ones
My eject on my tape deck had broken so i manually ejected it and put in a dummy tape (the old adapter) Sounds about 10 times better than any adapter tape Hey guys!! I was successful in getting my 98 non-Bose and non-changer radio to work with a aux in using the tape deck. Just follow Nelson's instructions, just use the tape deck, and just use the smaller connector. To see how to get to the tape deck see: aurorah.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Audio&action=display&thread=15183 . On the smaller connector go to the side opposite the dark blue wire. The last three white wires are what we need, but be careful, these wires are prone to breaking at the connector! I broke my left audio one and had to solder it to the joint on the board. Anyways, the last three white wires from left to right are left, ground, and right. Follow the rest of Nelson's instructions and install. I mounted mine in the console, and even have it switching between aux and tape. Sound quality is vastly improved!!! Also, I chopped of a little bit of my cassette door so that it would fully close with a cassette in there. To eject, stick your finger in to open it up and eject. I ripped off the cord to my cassette adapter tape and use that as a dummy tape. 98redaurora I will get some pictures up. Nelson - The harness your referring to is a port on the back, that the cd changer hooks into, is it not? If so, don't have one :/

I haven't used mine since I did this, the tape got jammed in it, it actually ejected it a couple months back, but I'm afraid to put another tape in haha.

I had to do mine via the ribbon cable on the CD player. I am using a mini Bluetooth adapter now via the aux port I mounted but want to find a more permanent method that doesn't need to me hit a button to wake it up every time.

I still think my solution is most efficient. Dummy cassette permanently installed, cassette permanently fed audio from AUX plug. If I ever needed to listen to a cassette, I'll either rip it to MP3 or plug a portable cassette player into AUX... but why?

Bob if I took the "tape" out of the cassette would that play as a dummy tape? My problem was I got a read error and it wouldn't eject or play the tape. Finally it ejected, but I assume if there was nothing to read there wouldn't be an error. Hmm

Mine cassette was stuck and made all kinds of grinding noises. When I took it apart there were pieces of the gears floating around. Mine would eject too for some reason when I shut the car off.

ISTR there's a speed encoder on both hubs and it will throw an error at you for broken tape or some such. Do you need a sacrificial adapter? I can get them cheap.

Possibly, all the ones I have in stores around me are too expensive to just break haha, especially not knowing if its going to work anyways. I used to have a million of the things laying around, broken ones even, now all of a sudden they disappear haha.

I want to add an input to my factory Bose system and an interface of the type at the bottom of page 1 would do the trick...I think. Problem is PIE had been swallowed up by PAC and the link no longer works and I'm not real sure if PAC had the same interface or something similar.
The PXDX from PAC looks like it replaces the 12- disc changer and gives you a set of RCA inputs -- in the trunk. My changer isn't working so I'm considering this adapter.

I installed one of these units in my friends 2005 Monte Carlo LS. It's simple and looks good. I can't remember if they come with the aux input end of it, but decide what you want to do in terms of mounting ahead of time. You could just plug in a mini stereo with male rcas on the end into the unit and be good. No mounting nesscacary. I didn't these were compatible with auroras. However..

Time to take this mod to the next level... I've purchased a small bluetooth audio receiver that I will use to eliminate the cord. The unit is about the size of the 95 keyfob, so it and its 5v usb power converter will fit inside the radio. I'll take pictures of course. For about $25 I'll have a factory Bose h/u with integrated bluetooth ;-)

What are the pins for the ribbon cable on the 98?
would like to know because my tape deck just keeps throwing E10...
or a better solution, pins for the tuner since it won't throw errors....

Never delved into it that deeply... the tuner audio signals probably don't go through the ribbon cable as (IIRC) it's on the same circuit board as the preamp/amp section. The cassette or CD channels are easy to find since they're external to the main board. Google can tell you what E10 means, but knowing the pinout probably won't solve that. Either repair or replace the cassette module (salvage yard.) Might just need a simple cleaning.

Remember those two connectors we weren't supposed to mix up? Which connector goes to which plug?

Not a clue, but a simple sharpie mark before removing would prevent it from happening.

Ok guys I need some input. I have a 2002 Aurora with the Bose CD/Tape unit in it, no CD changer. Following Nelsons thread I have mine all tore apart and there isn't the connector he states with the black wire. Everything I have is white wires with a blue wire on the end of the connector. I just want to be able to plug in my Ipod and roll...... So, any guidance here would be greatly appreciated.
