So yeah this has a bc/cc paint job. Fully wetsanded 1500/2000 and then compounded and polished. No wax yet. The '96 looking over it. Jealous because it's dirty. :/ Project is nearing completion!

Expected nothing less, lol! Looks great! Thanks man! This thing is going to be awesome. I am excited. I really wantto build an RC one now to race him. Will I ever sleep? Just kidding. I am barely getting in 20-30 minutes every couple of days on this project. Here is how it sits now. Step guards and floor mats are made from the Harbor Freight Self-Adhesive Rubber Safety Step Mats. Considering putting a piece on the body right above the step gaurds as well? Also inserted the new Gaucho side emblems and installed the custom superflux PCB front park assemblies and ran the wiring for them. Cut a piece of the same red vinyl I used recovering the shifter boot to go under the front grille. Slowly moving along...

Newest addition a pseudo speedometer. Just a digital volt meter that reads the voltage to the motors in real time. A nice addition to mimic a speedometer. At least it's a moving gauge? haha. Positive to +24v and negative is tapped of the ESC negative motor lead(the controller pulses ground).

Speakers in the roll bar. No lights. Custom made pods from PVC and some ABS sheet. Speaker wire ran through roll bar. Stereo sounds awesome. I need to grab a small FM antenna but otherwise the SD card and aux inputs work great. Installing the radio in the dash, clean up about four wires a couple of odds and ends then hand over the keys is about all that is left to do.

More brainstorming and schematics than actual work though I'd say. Time is limited in the evenings to fit in some time. I know he is ready to ride it so I will make some other additions later. I am gathering parts for a winch still and might add some LEDs in the exhaust that get brighter depending on throttle position.

The first run was a complete success. Started him off at 12v and bumped the governer to 18v once he got used to steering it again. This thing cruises at 18v! I will wait a while until bumping the governer up to 24v. It's hard enough for me tokeep up with 18v. My track years are far behind me Will upload a video soon. The final mod list: *Custom Paint *24v 500W ESC *Upgraded Motors/Gearboxes *Adjustable Speed Governer *Custom Coded Microcontroller(Lighting and Battery Saver Feature) *FM Radio/MP3 Headunit/2 CH Amplifier/Paor 50mm 3w Speakers *Reverse Alarm *Custom Replica WV VF License Plates *Rubber Floor Mats & Stepgaurds *Functioning Rear Suspension *All Custom Automotive Grade Lighting using Lumiled/Nichia Superflux LEDs *Emergency Lighting(Headlamps, brakes and reverse override emergency lamps) *Probably a mile worth of custom wiring! -- Siren/Loudspeaker was a bust --- working ona pre-amp for the MIC. Sensativity was lousy :/ Probably forgetting some other stuff right now. So, I also ordered a 24v 500w ESC and throttle for the Kawasaki Quad. Will be using a handle bar throttle and the foot pedal for braking! Might end up selling off the other ride ons as he likes/rides these two the most. That is unless another neighborhood kid likes one of the others it quickly turns into his favorite for the time being lol. "Sharing is caring."

I thought I would fall in the mud for sure! That little thing will cruise along! Oh man well those keys would have to be for the '98 then and not the '96 lol.

Quad is finished too... just copied and pasted my posting from MPW. Kawasaki Ninja Quad ESC & Simple LED Lighting Parts/Materials: *2x 12V 10aH SLA Battery * YK31C 24V 500W Controller * Twist Type Hall Effect Throttle *2x JQX-30F 2z 24V Coil 30A Relays *2x L7812 Voltage Regulator *10ga Wire *16ga Wire *Barrier Strip *Various Terminals Lighting: *Headlamp - MR16 4x1W LED Flood Bulb *Headlamp - MR16 4x1W LED Spot Bulb *Tail Lamp - 4" Red Trailer Clearance LampThis Kawasaki Ninja Quad was one of first two battery powered ride ons in the fleet. It was free along with the now Modded Safety-Orange PW JEEP. The quad was painted with Krylon Fusion Safety Red and Gloss Black this past spring. Although it is a bit scuffed now The #3 gearboxes were replaced with #7/21Ts. This probably doubled the speed of the quad. Info on modding these old quads to #7s can be found here for anyone interested. Main ESC build is nothing out of the ordinary. Using the common YK31C 24V 500W controller with a twist style hall effect throttle. Used a USB cable to extend the throttle cable to the ESC. PW factory accelerator now used for braking/emergency shut down in the event of ESC failure. Factory wiring harness removed leaving only the shifter. New harness built with 10 gauge and 16 gauge wiring. No use of the modular connectors. Simple lighting on this quad. No strobes or wig-wags. Headlamps and tail lamp turn ON with ignition key. The front headlamps are controlled from the ignition switch NO terminal. The tail light is powered from the pilot light circuit. The flood and spot combination for the headlamps were chosen for width and throw for night rides. To drop the voltage from +24v to +12v for the head and tail lamps two inexpensive L7812 voltage regulator were used with TO-220 heatsink. This saved from using a +24v to +12v stepdown and running more wiring. The datasheet for the L7812 can be found here.We will see how long these stock 540 motors last. If/when that happens an upgrade to BaneBots 18v motors will be in hand. Here are a few pictures of the build along the way! Nothing too in depth though. 21Ts mounted in rear pan. Soldered 10 gauge wire to motor leads and terminated with bullet connectors. Overhead view of Brake/Reverse relays, wiring harness routing and shifter. Shifter. YK31C controller mounted above relays. Mounted with nuts and bolts. Did not want screws sticking out of the body. All connections made. Looks a bit hairy but not too bad. Everything easily accessible. No use of the modular connectors. See not that bad. Wire nuts used on throttle cable for a couple reasons. Questionable reliability of USB cable for throttle extension and unsure if installing throttle governer for other riders. Batteries and ground distribution. Batteries fit nice and tight! What's hidden behind the front faring. You can see where I sleeved the handle bar with PVC section so the hall effect twist throttle would fit securely. Front head lamps. Spot on top flood on the bottom. Tail lamp mount location. 'Complete' with headlamps turned on. Turned out very nice. A voltage meter may be installed at a later time. Waited until all the parts and materials arrived before working on it. So the build went very quickly once started. It also was not quite as in depth as the Apache/Gaucho build which made it go quite a bit faster. These ESCs builds really are not difficult and definitely worth it. Thanks for looking. Will try to get a video and some night pictures of the lamps soon.

Sorry if this was already posted, but I found a posting on Slashdot that's relevant: www.powerracingseries.org/$500 budget to build a Power Wheels racer. Not sure what kind of prize there is, but I instantly thought of this thread. Awesome work by the way sall!

Never posted a video...
This is the Gaucho running at 18V when he first started driving it. He now masters 24V. Probably upgrade to 36V some time.
A way out of focus video I apparently filmed with a potato a couple weeks ago. "Mudding".
Puddle Hopping.

Only because I can tell you guys aren't sick of power wheels posts I got this one for $10. I am planning to make this one into a fully functioning RC JEEP Get a new hood, scuff the body up with 80 grit, use spray on truck bed liner on the body and throw on some black wheels.

Schweeeet! Now I want a RC beer cooler! LOL! Haha no doubt! Fun little project. Necessary? Nope. Going to add a tow behind 10" subwoofer/enclosure. I have an old MTX4000 and an amplifier. Will modify an xbox 360 power adapter. I can pull ~200W with it. Cheaper and lighter than a deep cycle battery.

I had a few minutes to work on the subwoofer trailer this weekend. Purchased a 'Q Bomb' sealed enclosure already truck bed coated. It is 1.2 cu. ft. Made it easy. The T6104 sounds great in it. I used the rear axle off of a Police Charger and the Charger's front wheels. Had to grind the welds off of the brackets and re-weld them closer to the center to make it work but no big deal. The 1" square stock tongue is just resting there not bolted in. Chucked the rest of the Charger other than the gearboxes and motors in a dumpster. It was a POS and needed too much work. So it donated parts.

I've got digihud on my phone. I use it for top speed mostly, not in the Olds or Jag of course. I have buddies with fast cars lol. It's a great app.
