Hey everyone. I have a 2001 4.0 we bought for my wife a couple of years ago. She loves it and it's been a pretty good car for us the last 40-50K miles. I'm wanting to take care of a few issue though that we've had for a while and just never really dealt with. One of those has to do with the passenger side power window. Essentially, it will occasionally work if it wants to, doesn't seem to matter whether it's the driver's switch or the passenger's. It will almost always go down fine, but usually won't come right back up. If we play with the switch it will typically go up in small, periodic increments. Sometimes, if the car is shut off for a while with the window down, when we start it, the window will automatically go all the way up. I have no real good idea where to start as electrics have never been my strong point and I don't really understand how the system works in these cars. One final bit of info, the switch for the passenger window in the driver's control panel does seem pretty floppy so I'm inclined to think the issue could be there, but I hate to buy one as a "guess and check" method of diagnosis. Any thoughts, input and help on the subject are appreciated!

I had same issue with my moms 2002 aurora for her it was bad switch on on passenger side back windows it was getting stuck on down position. i would disconnect the switch on that side and see if issue still appear if yes than it might be your master switch. Or it might be a bad window motor.

A bit of an update. I checked out the U-Pull yard nearby for the first time and found a nice 2G, got a couple things then went home to get tools and lunch, came back and they had just crushed it. But I digress..figured out the Bonneville uses the same switches, so grabbed a driver's and passenger's switch. After swapping some parts around (Basically the circuit boards) and cleaning things up I tried again, same problem still. Although, I can add that I can hear a clicking sound in the passenger door when I try and put the window up. It goes down just fine, just doesn't really want to go up. Wondering if it's more likely to be an issue with the window motor or that main box under the driver's seat. Thoughts or suggestions??

You might have done this already, but I saw a write up on here concerning repairing the wires leading into the door from the rest of the car. Sounded like a good number of our fellow owners have had issues with that and peeking in there for obviously frayed wires seems easy enough.

Yeah, did some more looking around and such with the door panels off and that's what I'm thinking. When it works, it works fine, but will just randomly not work. I may try and pick up a window motor from the u-pull and see if it works.
