Finally got the amp installed. Brought my JL 12 to life. Not sure if I will swap the enclosure for subs in the rear deck now. Still planning to run the fornt and door speakers form the 5 ch amp though. I have a few other things in mind too. More details later...

I have made a little progress. Ran new 16awg speaker wire from trunk through each door jamb. None of them were difficult to run really.
I just need to terminate the wiring and get the quad RCA cable installed to play around with sound stage a little bit. I'm not certain yet how I would like to do so. Put door and 6x9 on same channels in parallel for respective side or run door speakers only for rear fill.

Done with this project besides fooling with sound stage and fine tuning. Sounds amazing budget or not!

Nice. Thats similar to what id like to put in my car, i dont need nothing to blow the doors off anymore lol. Just a cleaner deeper sound like some of the newer cars.

I had a bit of noise at part throttle. I just ended up grounding the CarPC and 5CH amplifier at the same spot. I was not willing to try a ground loop/noise isolator.
The only thing bugging is some rattling from the trunk. I am pretty certain it is the little air vent thing on the passenger side of the trunk vibrating. If I would isolate that it would sound perfect on the outside. While it is only heard outside, I do not really care to hear it. So I might seal off the area with something. Not sure what.

N00B alert - and what radio are you using? My daughter wants an upgrade and this looks promising (and fairly cheap). ...gene

Ah yes, the little things, lol! ..So, no rear deck subs? No, I held off to see what the JL 12 sounded like with new amp. It brought it to life. So, while I didn't save trunk space the overall sound is so much better. N00B alert - and what radio are you using? My daughter wants an upgrade and this looks promising (and fairly cheap). ...gene Well, I have a CarPC installed the sound comes from a 5.1 channel sound card. However, any headunit with front, rear and subwoofer RCA outs will suffice with this amplifier. Keep in mind you will need to make new speaker wire runs through the door jamb to the trunk. Aftermarket headunit won't push speakers enough. Still need to decide what to do with the damn vibrating vent. The assembly itself is sealed in with butyl. I could probably just cover the flapping things with duct tape and call it a day. Hidden behind the carpet anyways!

Also started ordering materials to do the 'big three' upgrade. While adding larger gauge to fuse boxes and starter as well. Will replace the factory 4 gauge runs with 1/0 gauge welding cable. Alternator positive/ground 1/0 run. Starter 1/0 run. Fuse boxes will be 4 gauge runs.

I just ordered my custom built alt. Its a 300a alternator and gonna get my wiring order as well once I get the alternator.

Yeah I would not install that alternator on the factory wiring.
This is a little more in depth than a typical big three because of the way the harness is designed. Received the 1/0 wire today. I may wait until the car is in for the winter though. Will include a BoM when gathered though. Stay tuned.

So, that really didn't last too long. Grabbed a Cadence A7+HC amplifier off of craigslist. Price was too good to pass up. It will do 1400W RMS @ 1 ohm. Now to search for a 2 ohm DVC subwoofer...

I was looking at the American Bass XFL1222 and SoundQubed HDS312. They are both 2 Ohm DVC. XFL1222 rated 1000W and SoundQubed is 1200W RMS. From research both are inherently the same subwoofer. I decided to go with SoundQubed HDS312. They returned a few emails promptly and I like the aesthetics of the subwoofer over the XFL1222. Both had good reviews on car audio forums. The HDS312 will fit nicely in the enclosure I already built for previous subwoofer. Depth was my main concern. The enclosure is practically perfect at 2.0 cu. ft. net volume and tuned to 36 Hz.

May make it more complex now... lol. I could have called that one. Once I saw (I think I saw?) the words "budget audio build" and I was like "Sall? No way. That won't last. He'll end up going big. " haha. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using ProBoards

" haha. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using ProBoards Well, in my defense I didn't expect to find such a deal on that Cadence Mono block. Then I joined an audio forum... <--- bad decision So, the newest setup so far is this: Front Stage: CDT Audio MX-6CV (160W RMS/2 Ohm) Rear Fill: None Subwoofer: SoundQubed HDC312(1200w RMS/2 Ohm DVC) Mono Block Amplifier: Cadence Ultrashock A7+HC(1400W RMS/1 Ohm) Front Stage 2 CH Amplifier: TBD Then upgrading the wiring to 1/0 positive everything and 2/0 ground straps.

once you get in its hard to get out lol I always said I didnt wanna be too loud but I done broke that goal already lol Well, I can't really afford to get into it. As in $500+ 6.5" components ?? This is still a budget build by many peoples standards. I won't ever take up any more trunk space than already used though. What are you running to justify the HO alternator?

I have 2 Rockford Fosgate T2 12's DVC 2Ohm subs in a custom box on a boss 5500 mono block 1 ohm stable amp and I have a 2nd battery in the trunk. Plus I still have to get my door speakers cause my stock door speakers were busted when I got the car. But I didn't buy all of that at one time I bought piece by piece. I know the amp is not pushing the full 5500 Boss amps usually is no where near what they are rated at but this amp is with the onyx class Boss amps and its doin pretty good but on my head unit I have to keep my subwoofer level at -10 cause if I go pass 0 and keep goin in the + my voltage would start dropping big time. Its still loud on -10.
