For the past week I've had the message 'check oil level ' on the dic come up only on a cold start, and the oil level is good. probably a bad sensor and now my check engine light is on so it might be related, I'm going to get the code checked out and hopefully it's what I suspect

Yes, oil level sensor went bad. Common problem.
Pay for ACDelco brand one as it seems that's the only one that seems to work. Could go cheaper with a different brand but from experience they don't last.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, though that's not what's causing the cel to go off. The code that it spit out was a p0410 secondary air injection pump, I have no clue how important it is, or really what it was before I looked it up lol. Had my dad look at it and check the wiring, tightened some fuses and reset the cel, so far it hasn't gone off again but then again I've only drove down the street to work the last 2 days. I might take it for a spin tomorrow out in the country and see if it comes on again

Thanks for the info! I drove around on a few country roads and good news, the cel hasn't gone off. I just need to buy an ac delco oil level sensor and everything will be good

It will go off after 2 to 3 driving cycles if something is wrong its one of the cel lights that might take day or 2 to come back. But I hope it wont gl.
