I have a 2003 with the 3.5 in it, currently has 90k on it. The other day coming home from town outside temp was about 90 degrees. Has the temp in the car set at 70, we had driven to town about 50 mile and were headed home had been driving about 10 miles when the interior temp started going up until it was not cooling at all. When I got home I hooked my ac manifold up and the low pressure was about 35, high pressure was 125. I added about 14 oz and the low pressure went up to 50 (psi I found on the forum) and the high temp went up to 150' outside temp was around 85 at that time. AC would cool to 50 degrees. Checked it in the morning when I left for work it was cooling. During the day I ran an errand at mid day and it was still cooling. Headed home after work and it cooled real good for about 2 miles then quit. I was almost home and turned it on and it cooled until I got home. Checked the pressures again and the low was about 45, I added about 6 oz and that brought it up to 50. Also put some dye in and the only place I can see any is at the electrical connector on the low pressure line just where the line enter the firewall. There is very little dye visible at that spot, none any place else.
Would appreciate any help I could get.
Bob

evaps rarely leak more likely plugged up and freezing up need to hook up to a/c machine to tell for sure what your problem is just because your low psi falls does not mean its low on refrig.

THERE IS AN ELECTRONIC AIR FLOW CONTROLL THAT OPENS AND CLOSES THE GATE BETWEEN HEAT AND AIR. I'V HAD TO REPLACE MINE 2001 4L IT REPLACES THE CABLE CONTROLL OF THE OLD DAYS.

Hopefully that solves your problem. My 03 sometimes doesn't come on til it feels like it. I dont know if its hitting a bump that kick starts it or if its turning it on and off that helps.
