It seems I have the last (in the world??) MFS coming from salvage yard - looked all over North America.
It appears the top and bottom covers can be removed without removing steering wheel, and I see I need to disconnect the battery and remove the SRS fuses or safety plugs (I remember those from the manual?) Also once accessible, I know there there is a semicircle of access holes on the switch where contact cleaner can be sprayed.
However I want to also remove/replace the switch with the repaired one, and then if successful, restore the other 1. Thanks!!!

Not sure if you are looking for anything other than this: aurorah.proboards.com/thread/2259/multifunction-dissection-queasyOf course the column cover can be removed without removing the steering wheel. Make for certain you get all the fasteners out holding the two halves together. There are generally some on eBay used. Used are around. New not so much. While you have the cover off go ahead and install push button start/PKE/Remote Start!

The other yard made a mistake, no stock, so only I have one MFS. I got the covers off OK and there's an error in the Second Edition manuals, the rear of the lower does not pivot on a pin, there are 2 screws. Oh yea, those screws are male Torx heads - luckily I found a socket driver that fit good enough to remove the screws. Before beginning, I noticed the 2 ignition key resistor wires on the "A" connector were cut off at the connector, leaving only the pins. I thought it strange; how would this be done, the drawings and instruction do not show or mention a wire going to the ignition switch. I figured I would have to get those out of the old connector and then put them into the new. However, Just before I started cutting the cable ties, since I already have that switch mounted, which breaks the head/park power feed, I decided I would just clean the MFS in place... And, s So far, it is working like new again!
Thanks to all for your help, photos and advice! MRK PS, I am going to keep that MFS as a spare for now...
