In anticipation of picking up my Impala next week, I paid a visit to a local boneyard to get some pieces for a little 'arts and crafts' project. I'm gonna make a decorative front license plate with OEM Impala emblems. I harvested the Impala oval emblem and the "Impala" script off the rear of a 2003 Impala and I've ordered a black license plate blank off the Internet. I plan to center the script under the oval. I got the idea from a vintage, dealer-made Cadillac plate I had on the front of a Deville Concours I had a few years back. I meant to take it off the car before I sold it but I forgot. It should look pretty slick when I get done and it will definitely dress up the front of the car. I went for the 2000-2005 vintage oval Impala emblem because unlike any of the others, it's a solid design, not open. This will make it easier to stick down without the adhesive showing. I also like the little blue Chevy bowtie at the bottom. Some emblems have a gold bowtie but the blue is more common and I think it's prettier. The "Impala" script will be a bit more challenging to stick down neatly as the letters are very slender in spots. It's actually a fairly fragile piece; I broke one before I successfully harvested the one I have.
So I do have one question. What should I stick the emblems down with? Double-face tape? Super glue? This will be bonding plastic to plastic with no painted surfaces to contend with, although the emblems are chromed. I stuck the front emblem on my Aurora with RTV silicone. It's been firmly in place for two years. I may try that unless there are other suggestions.

I've always had good luck with quality double-faced tape. In this case though, since it's plastic to plastic I'd think super glue would do the trick...or another similar but thicker glue. Only worry here is super glue tends to cloud plastic but if you only glue it towards the center of the emblem I would think it would be fine. Too close to the edge and you may get some visible clouding.
