I was the right front passenger in a 2013 Accord today when the car spun on a patch of ice & hit a guard rail at about 60 mph. The right front took the force of the crash. We all had seat belts on, so everybody was OK. But the airbags didn't work! Bad sensor or sensors?

Perhaps it depends on the angle of the hit, if you sideswiped the rail rather than a full head on hit the vector of the force maybe was not right for deployment. On many of the junk yard wrecks I see only the front OR side bags go off, not both. It must depend on the direction of the impact. It is good that every one is OK.

What Randnon says, also that everyone is ok.
I think Honda is having a huge recall due to the Takota airbags, so you might want to look into it and file a complaint!

Not sure about the airbag thing, but glad you and everyone are ok.

Thanks everybody. Now when I think about the Takata airbags, I'm glad they didn't go off.

Glad you and everyone else in the car are OK Marc! I second the idea that deployment of the airbag system is compromised on off-center hits. I have read articles and heard stories like this over the years.

The fact that nobody was hurt in a 60mph crash would suggest the hit wasn't hard enough to set off any bags. Count your blessings :-)
Last winter my daughter hit ice and went head-on into a guard rail. The hood went over the rail and was undamaged but everything below got smashed into the engine block. Car was totaled but still no bag deployment. Makes you wonder what does it take?
