Has anyone here had experience replacing the belt tensioner? Mines been squealing a couple months now and notice water steams off of it it gets so hot. So I seen I can get one for $30 but it looks like a b!¥ch to get to. Any advice?

Tigger gotchya all set!
I'd go ahead and swap idler and tensioner. No since in going back in again later. Take your time it's not too bad, just be careful with the pan!

Second what Sall advised. Assuming both are original parts, if one is dying the other won't be far behind.
This is one of the first things I did after getting my '98. Not exactly being a mechanic by any means it freaked me out how much I had to jack and shove the engine around to remove the plates and gain access. Just follow the tutorial. Good luck.

Yea fun times indeed. I failed to take advice and only changed the tensioner and belt. Squeaking came back, and I had to dig back in to change the pulley. So note, just do both at the same time. And also make sure you have a nice angled wrench to get the pulley bolts off. That guide is what I used as well.

The Angled wrench is key!! Before you think you'll be able to get it off without, go to HF and buy a set. I rounded out that one bolt, and had to mess with bolt extractors in that really tight area for like 3 hours. Sucked.

It's not fun. I had to remove front wheel. Take out plastic clips on wheel well skin. Remove motor mount bolt and bolts to the plate in front of pulley. After that's out you have room to get to the pulley from the top or from underneath. I thought my pulley was making the noise but turned out to be AC compressor clutch.

A/C compressor was my problem as well. Got the shorter belt recommended on the forums and bypassed it. No problems now.
