Did you check the fuel pressure with a gauge? You can have fuel at the rail but still be too low of an amount of pressure to run the car.

It should start with starting fluid right?

It should start with starting fluid right? Last resort but, yeah it may fire. It'll only keep running if the fuel pump is supplying enough fuel though. Ether is bad, get a pressure reading.

And trouble codes or CEL? What type of history does the car have?

As far as I know a good history never gave them any problems no codes or cell that was the first thing I checked. It didn't wanna turn on one day sat a while battery replaced battery could it be a security problem?

So no check engine light and no codes. Just cranks/turns over but doesn't catch/start? Or does it click out like a low battery? Why was the crank position sensor replaced- and are you sure the new one is good?

If it cranks, wont fire and isnt thowing a trouble code I would doublle ccheck a couple things first.
-fuel pressure at rails -all spark plug coils connected -crank sensor connected
No security light on dash? If absolutely everything checks out maybe your injectors aare gummed up or you have compression problems. Have you pulled the plugs to inspect and do a cylinder leak down?

I'm having the same problem, we have changed spark plugs, ignition coil, etc, how can we check the fuel pressure, my step dad keeps saying it has pressure at the rail also, but maybe the pump isnt good enough. Can I borrow something from AutoZone to check pressure?

jttheshowstoppper check all your fuses, clean your grounds, test your ignition switch.
julieaurora, yes I think fuel pressure gauges are able to be rented. Harbor Freight has them for $20 right now, if you don't have one local I am sure you could order online. I would also recommend you check all your fuses, clean your grounds, then test your ignition switch.

Not exactly sure on the 3.5. Maybe someone else will know. I would guess around 45psi or above with key on, and may drop a little with key on engine running.

Sorry haven't been on lately been super busy with work still haven't checked the fuel pressure I replaced the plugs because the spark plug electrode was gone on all the plugs. While cranking sounds like it's back firing threw the intake

I've never had an EFI and DIS car backfire, has anybody messed with the cam timing? Are the ignition coil wiring harness stock or butchered?
