Hello, I am having issue starting my car. I have a 2001 Olds Aurora 4.0. When I turn the key to ACC I have dash lights come on, but when I turn it to start it everything goes dead until I release the key. I have a "new" reconditioned battery. It seems to hold its voltage. Also have tried jumping the car. I am getting no clicking from the starter. Now heres where the funny business begins. When I take the key out, some reason the dash lights want to come back on. Not sure what would cause that part. I had these issues a week ago, so I bought a new battery, eventually I got the car to start using the new battery. I needed money so I returned the new battery and put my old one back in. After realizing that the old battery is complete junk, I went and got this recon-battery.. Like I said the recon battery is holding voltage. Suggestions?

A battery holding a charge does not indicate a good battery. Have it load tested. Since the issues went away with a new good battery and re-appeared with a different battery it is worth a shot. Any auto store can charge and load test for you.
If you have a royal king locally they rebranded exide agm for $90 after $20 mail in rebate. Sams club also has duracell agm

I'm gonna take that recon battery back. And get a brand new one again. Suggestions on what size of battery to get as far as CCA?

A group 79 battery is OEM but a group 78 should be sufficient. CCA is around 800 for both IIRC.

Okay so I put in a battery of the size you suggested, brand new. I went to turn the key and all dash lights and interior lights come on like they are supposed to, But once I turn the key to Ignition everything powers off completely until I let the key go back to accessory. Then the headlights begin to flash like a strobe and dash lights flicker on and off. Maybe bad connectors?
