I'm lost with this one. Sorry to include so many details, but I have no idea what info would be helpful at this point.
------
About a month ago, I was leaving home and the car had very little power. I could press the accelerator and it would go, but definitely not at full power. I managed to get it back home OK. Something like this happened before and it was a 10 amp fuse in the engine compartment, but this time I wasn't so lucky.
For a few days, I scratched my head. The car would start and run - it was running rough, but it would stay running. Oil level was fine. Plenty of gas in the tank.
The fuel pump didn't sound quite right and I had been meaning to replace it so I started there. Maybe it's not getting enough fuel. That didn't fix anything except the noise it was making.
On one of the starts, the serpentine belt broke.
I replaced that.
But now when I try to start, I get absolutely nothing. No crank. The car kind of dies. If the radio is on, it goes off. All electronics go off. I tried to jump it, but it won't crank over. OK, the battery is dead. I try to charge it up, but it's not taking a charge. I replace it.
Put the new battery in and still nothing. No crank. Everything still "dies" when I try to start the car, but it all comes back on as soon as I stop trying to start the car.
I see the security light and while it doesn't look out of normal, I try the key relearn procedure. Many times. It does nothing.
I take out the starter and have it tested at Autozone. It tests good. I drive across the street and have it tested at Advanced. Same thing - it's fine.
Put everything back together and call it a day.
Walked out a couple days later to try messing with it again and the brand new battery is already dead. I hadn't left any interior lights or anything on.
The battery was dead within 2 days.
The car has about 130,000 miles on it.
Any ideas? I was thinking the alternator, but I don't understand why it won't crank, even with a jump.
