So my 01 Aurora 3.5l battery decided it was going to boil...car smells like rotten eggs and battery is under back seat!!! Y question is can I put a top post battery in or should I use the side post one like it has...the side post battery for my car is 181 so thinking about going to junk yard for a used one until I get paid but as of right now no battery

Sure, you can use a top post if you want. Just make sure it fits in the well without the posts touching anything, and it has vent ports if it's a wet cell (i.e., not an AGM or Gel).
Group 34 is the top post version of our OEM Group 78, I think...
Bigger question is why did your old battery overheat?
When you replace it, check your charging system at the battery terminals with a multimeter. Don't trust the DIC, lol!

I think it was because I was jump starting my mom's car everyday twice a day for almost a week and not letting my car run for 10 to 20 min afterwards if always shut it off like 5 min after hers started. She had two dead cells so I'm sure I caused it lol

Hydrogen Sulfide is some scary stuff.. believe me. Don't breathe it in. I had irritable burning in my throat and nose and eyes for days. Also the rotten egg smell is from OVERCHARGING which is caused by too much juice going to the battery. Which you said you had dead cells so it could be that it had 12v (how many amps the alt puts out) going into a 8 volt battery, essentially.
