My 2001 4.0 with 245k has recently started to make a popping sound on takeoffs and slowdowns and also turning. I suspect worn out motor mounts. I also have noticed that sometimes the accelerator seems like the gas petal is stuck. Is this associated with the mounts being bad or is their another reason?

Gas pedal sticky means need to clean TB. Mounts might be giving poping sound so is tie rods.

Could be a ton of things. Ball joint, tie rods, strut mount, bad/broken spring, motor mount, lower control arm, etc...

I also had a similar sound/feeling on my old Taurus when the subframe mount rusted off.
