Hey Guys,
I scoured the internet typing in google search- second generation CTS A/C blows warm on driver's and cold on passenger. I tried typing in 2010 CTS A/C issues. I typed in the issues every which way I could. There were results presented on the internet, but I could not find the exact issue I am experiencing. Maybe someone on here knows A/C well and can help?
I have a 2010 Cadillac CTS Luxury edition V6 3.0. If I have the A/C turned on, dual mode activated so it blows for both driver's and passenger and then the recirulate air button on, the driver's side vents do not blow as cold as the passenger side. So it seems to happen first thing in the morning, the recirculate button ( If i have the name correct - button with a oval shaped arrow symbol) flickers. and the A/C blows from the driver's but not cold like the passenger.
I did gather some info, I am just unsure if it's correct. If it is a "temp motor." They have one on the left and one on the right. My confusion is from the forum posts I did read. They are being called actuators or other things and I am unsure if they mean "temp motor" via GMpartsdirect. According to the members if it's one or the other, I can't just swap the part out. I should leave the old 'CAM' in and put the new actuator on the old 'CAM' because if I dont It would require a complete recalibration of all the A/C actuators which is next to impossible without taking apart the dash.....Not sure if this applys to my part b.c I'm not even sure if it's the part they are referring to lol.
So far I think there are 4 A/C components behind the dash that could be the issue. Temp motor left or right, Mode motor, or Air inlet motor.
I do have a noise directly behind my radio/a/c control unit that sounds like someone is type writing. Some of the stuff I dug up was it could be a blend door actuator or the CD player. If it's a blend door actuator I think the name would be 'temp motor."
I'm very confused. Any insight would be greatly appreciated as cadillac would charge $500- $1100 for this job. If i can tackle it myself. I will!!!
BTW- A/C compressor kicks on and a at home A/C charge bottle shows my freon is filled to capacity.....
