I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora and the plastic handle for the hood release cable broke so i need to replace the entire cable assembly.
Are there some instructions on how to do this?
Do i have to remove the plastic liner for the wheel well?
thanks in advance.

I'm confused. If the handle is broken, just go to the salvage yard and scavenge one. The release cable assembly is just the cable and an attached bracket, to my knowledge, no handle. Basically, the release handle, cable, and latch are all there is to it...
Anyway, if you do run a new cable, yes, you'll have to pull the wheel liner. The cable is secured by a couple c;lips om it's way to the hood latch.
And no, no instructions that I've every seen, but I'd suggest using wire or string to connect the ends of the old and new cables to help pull the new one into place...

Basically, the release handle, cable, and latch are all there is to it... The entire hood release cable assembly including the handle was relatively cheap to buy online so I just bought the whole thing. It's all assembled together so I didn't bother to look at how the handle was attached to the cable. Just assumed I would have to replace it all.
Thanks for the info. I will take off the wheel liner and see how easy it is to replace from there.

All apologies. You could just use the handle, but I think you'd still have to disconnect the cable at the hood latch to have enough slack to get the old one out. And yeah, take pics and do a short write up. We'll put it in the "how to" stickies.
