I am new to this club.... I would say I’m a bit more of an Oldsmobile freak than an Aurora Nut....But I had a 1995....and I now own number 200 of the “Final 500 Editions”. I do not know if this is the correct place to ask this question....but it has driven me nuts for years!!!! Perhaps one of you knows? Oldsmobile made the decision to drop the Aurora in 1999....In 2000 GM made the decision to drop the entire division....YET the Aurora was RE INTRODUCED in 2001....this makes very little sense to me.... I also don’t understand the chronology of the shutdown....2002 Intrigue, 2003 Aurora, and 2004 Alero, Silhouette, and Bravada (I own #419) Anyway....thank you to any who read and can provide some direction...

Well first, welcome to the ACNA! And please post some pics of #200 when you can! Here's the Q&D on the 2G Aurora, as I see it... Buick kills the Riviera/Olds kills the Aurora. GM kills Olds. Olds cuts bait on 'Antares' development, uses that styling with existing G platform suspension and drivetrain. VIOLA! - 2nd Gen Aurora! Name recognition is everything to a failing company, lol! And Pontiac got a new Bonneville and Buick got a new (gag) LeSabre in the deal! Say it ain't so... 1995 Oldsmobile Antares ConceptThey were just using what they had available. I'd assume that had a lot to do with the order of phase out as well. The Aurora 3.5 did disappear with the Intrigue in '02...

I like how the concept Antares rims became the Intrigue rims.
