For the past couple weeks my commute has been a bit chilly. Engine heats up quick and the gauge stays solid on the center mark but the heater takes half hour before it throws warmish air out the vents. Antifreeze is at correct level and concentration.
I'm thinking it's got to be the climate control or maybe a stuck blend door. How/where do I test for blend door movement?

First check the heater core inlet and outlet hoses at the firewall. With the engine at operating temp, they should feel close to the same temperature. If one is warm and the other is cool, the core is restricted.
To check the blend doors you'll have to remove the actuators on each side and move them by hand. There's a location diagram floating around here somewhere...
Lastly, if it's the HVAC controller, that's pretty much pull and replace.

Also check the thermostat. It could be stuck open.

Also check the thermostat. It could be stuck open. I forgot to mention that I saw that problem once, but on a car not comparable to an Aurora.....1965 Cutlass 330 4 bbl.

Warmed up the engine and I believe you're right about the core being plugged. What's the fix? Any hope of clearing it by flushing?

Yeah, you need to backflush the heater core. Google it.

I'm wondering what causes the blockage? Corrosion? A flush might not help much if so. Warm-ish days ahead... Maybe I'll get a chance to try.
I'm assuming since the heat & AC lines go thru the firewall near the center that it's not designed for easy replacement. I'm not up for pulling the dash to put in a new core.
