I voted 95 thinking I'd be able to vote twice, as its the 97 that I've been driving most the last couple years.

I own a '95 but I've just about quit driving it. Too many problems. May be selling it soon to make room in the driveway for a more vintage ride.

Thread had been dead for 11 months, no wonder I'd missed it... Diamond Pearl White '98, just ticked over 99k miles. Bought 3 months ago.

I am thinking of trying to find a 2nd generation. I also understand that what I am about to ask is strictly opinion but which of the second generation is the best. I have been trying to find an 03.

...which of the second generation is the best. I have been trying to find an 03. Only minor changes from year to year. V8s had a few more standard features than the V6s, but all options were available on either. '03 was V8 only. Quality will depend upon mileage and/or maintenance for any 2G. Good luck!

I'm curious to see what kind of year-ownership breakdown we've got here now, since there are lots of new members lately. (Note: if you have more than one Aurora, vote for the one you drive the most ) Let's see the numbers! 1 vote for 1999. I have a 2003 Aurora, #155 of the Final 500. AWESOME CAR!!

I prefer the 2000 over the 01s. Much more stealthy ! ;D ;D ;D ;D If you actually own a 2000, you have a NONE OF A KIND collectors car ๐ By the way mine is a 97 which now has 59801 miles. It's an autobahn, has a sunroof, but no Bose.. It's a light metallic teal. Sometimes it looks blue and sometimes it looks grey or silver... Awesome paint! Medium teal interior. Love it, but I am going to get a 2nd gen just so that when i decide the first gen is the best, it will be a FAIR and UNBIASED decision made after experiencing both sides of the Aurora story...

Hahaha, you're killin' me! 2G 4.0 is essentially a 'bahn. 3.71 4T80E, 250HP 4.0, same suspension, lighter. So, best in terms of what? Sounds like you've already made up your mind...

Well I think I've made my decision. However one can't be sure until one looks at both generations of the story. See my first gen 97 also brings back memories of a 95 that I used to drive. I was having a real hard time liking the body style of the second gen, but its growing on me, however the dash and gauges I don't like. I don't like the second gen because, the first gen just kind of flows and the way they broke up the 2nd gen makes it too monotonous. Maybe I'll do a custom 1st Gen Dash in a 2nd gen...๐ right after I win the lottery๐

In a stroke of what felt like karmic good luck I was given the opportunity to own a beloved and garaged 1998 Autobahn. Freshly finished with a hundred thousand mile service and the engine computer read an average speed of 21 miles per hour. It needs to be said I happen to have a backup engine and transmission when time comes. So there's twice as much reason to feel confident owning this particular vehicle as any other. After a PT Cruiser, Audi A4, Taurus, and LeSabre; Aurora has been the best vehicle experience (driving or owning) I've had so far. We're very lucky to have them for the time that we do.
