Hi there we have an 02 Aurora 3.5 with 189,000 kms (pearl white) and an 03 Alero ("plain jane" victory red with a 5 speed 4 cyl and little else by way of options other than cruise and air which just turned 100, 000 kms). This is my commuter car to and from Toronto weekly where I have an ongoing personal services contract in my home town to supplement my retirement income!
The Aurora has been a great vehicle: we've had it for almost 3 years and have put about 100, 000 kms on it since March 2005. It was a replacement for a 93 Caddy Sedan DeVille and there is no comparison between the two: the Aurora is by far the better car and not just because of the age difference. We've done little to the car other than putting a front cover on it when we purchased it, as I have with all of the cars I've bought (other than the Caddy) since 1986. We've had one issue with the car in the past year which will need some correction in the spring: the sun/moon roof bracket is broken and the unit will only tilt, and the dealer has been trying to find a replacement for the past 5 months with no success.
BTW we live in beautiful Colborne Ontario: if you're driving east from Toronto it's where the "Big Apple" resides.

There needs to be a Spring meet somewhere nice. Ontario's got some nice spots, up north or out towards the east even downtown.

Hey Peter.
I'll keep you apprised of any upcoming meets. When did you get your 97?
Personally, I hope to have my Aurora back on the road in a couple weeks after winter slumber

Hey JimW,
The Aurora was bought in 2001 with 62000k and now has 182000k. I am considering to modify the exhaust system sometime in the future, where is a good place for exhaust modifications on Aurora's. I have a major oil leak at the bottom of the engine and was quoted about 4 grand to repair, i don't want to get rid of the car because of the car being rare and not seen often such as BMW, Mercs and others.

4 grand! Wow, you can get a replacement engine/Aurora for that kinda money.
At 182 000kms, you might even get $800 towards another 2nd gen. If exhaust mods are something you want to do, I always go to Zoro Muffler at Stanfield and Dundas, they supply Magnaflow products and sounds real good on my car.
In the winter I drive around in a 2004 GTP CompG...no real passion for the car, but no interested buyers...so, I boot around in that.

Thanks JimW,
I was looking around on the internet and heard about the Aurora Crate engine, 320 hp, if i get to the point of no return with this leak i may even consider.

Hello Board Members, In the Weekend edition of the Mississauga News(May 25,09) i found a article about a first year Auto Show at D'Angelo's( i will have to check to make sure ) on 3200 Erin Mills Parkway in Mississauga, i am quite sure it is in May. The show is from 11 to 2 p.m. I remember that at the bottom of the article it said," Bring your car and show it off", so i was thinking a few modified Aurora's or non modified could show up.

JimW said he might post something, but is probably too busy (just guessing, Jim ). In any case, now's the time before the weather gets nasty (you know, 10 months of winter, and 2 months of bad skating and all that). Other than the next 2 Wed nights, I'm pretty much free to come and go as I please. We can meet anyplace convenient, including my place (which of course would be very convenient for me ;D). There's even lots of parking around the corner, given the city strike and closing of the local sports facility. Also, if you need or have parts (for your Aurora), maybe you post a list and we can do some swapping.

*cough* *wheeze* sorry I'm late. I'm up for something late August when you get back from vacation...even just to catch up if my Aurora is still off the road.

Hey JimW, I have a major oil leak at the bottom of the engine and was quoted about 4 grand to repair, i don't want to get rid of the car because of the car being rare and not seen often such as BMW, Mercs and others. this could just be the turbine input sensor (i think its called) if the sensor isn't tight enough it will leak oil like crazy. i was just reading the thread here yesterday but now i can't find it. come to think of it maybe it's the oil pressure sensor. someone else here knows what i'm talking about.

*cough* *wheeze* sorry I'm late. I'm up for something late August when you get back from vacation...even just to catch up if my Aurora is still off the road. Late Aug is OK. I'm here on lovely Coral Springs as I write. Trip down was pretty OK, except for a finger from the beast when she lit up the SEL for me. Except, it went out after a few starts. It's not burnt out either. Maybe I should take it to Advance, or some such place, and see what's in history. Pushed it pretty hard; averaged 105Km/hr over the entire route; lots of 'keeping up' at 80MPH. Outside temp was around 35C for parts; maybe she just got too hot in some component. Engine ran with the temp gauge pegged where it always is, thought.
