I have 2 3.5L V6 engines for sale. These engines were used for educational purposes and have never been started. There's no wiring or PCM so maybe used for a swap out or high performance application. Engines are 90% complete. I'm not sure about any kind of shipping yet, but I'm located in Ohio. Asking $500 per engine.

How do you use them for educational purposes without ever starting them or tearing them apart?

He didn't say they weren't torn apart... They might make a nice coffee table at that price!

And if the engines are 90% complete, I'm more than curious about the 10% that's missing... ? Do you get the same 90% with each engine, or is it a kinda grab-bag thing?

The engines were taken apart as part of a GM training class. They are missing some acc, wiring and pcm.

Hey, Aurora40, as long as I get my 500 bucks you can do whatever you want with them. You could use them as a nice coffee table or you could even turn them sideways and stick them up your *** for all I care

You could use them as a nice coffee table or you could even turn them sideways and stick them up your *** for all I care Now I get it - it's just about the $$. So I have to believe that the engines have been disassembled and reassembled by - um - students? Or, what do they do, just look at them? Possible mismatched main bearings, marred journals, reversed rings, etc... But hey, they'd be good for parts... Oh, and Oldsv6, no ones butt is that big but it sounds like you mouth might be.

hehe, I just imagined them starting up and running backwards - have to put the transmission in reverse to go forward oldsv6 - I think you may want to stick to your job as a mechanic (or teacher, or something), because as a salesman you have some qualities that are a little... let's say... discouraging.

Consider yourself suspended. It seems as though you have no real interest in the board anyway.

Good call scotty, that was out of line. 40 didnt mean anything insulting by that comment and the fact is, who wants to spend the money on an engine that could very well have been crap to begin with. Some people need to remember we're all friends here.

Hehe, "toy with" in this regard makes me think of doing something like teasing a cat by putting a sock over its head... which is hilarious by the way, if you've never done it. (Cat lovers, forget I said that... I obviously am not one )

hehe.. I will have to try these My younger sibling, at around age 2, I used to tie a piece of duct tape around his body and arms, so he couldn't move them (parallel with his torso), and at this age he didn't cry, just kinda walked around in a VERY confused state. hehehehe.

Try a laser pointer sometime with cats or dogs. They go nuts. Its really entertaining when the beam all of the sudden disappears (i.e. shut the pointer off).

Hey tjm, These engines were not used by students but by GM certified dealer mechanics. Just like the ones you would find at........ oh wait, I forgot, there are no Olds dealers.........

Now, in all fairness, I think we should allow olsv6 to state his case. The original post seemed of good intention although likely monetarily motivated. But, hey, that's America.
Personally, I'm not interested in an engine that's been torn down, possibly on multiple occasions and not in ideal conditions and then NEVER RUN OR TESTED!
These engines might make a fine donation to the vocational school of my choice; just not something I would consider as an alternative to an engine from a wreck that has never been touched and has low miles.
With a gun; the more times you tear it down, the less accurate it becomes. The tolerances in an engine are far greater.
Years ago, I worked as a carpenter at what was previously the GM plant in Framingham, MA. One of the amazing stories was that if a car got to the end of the line and something a small as the wipers didn't work, the car was sent to the crusher. That's the kind of perfection I want in my engine. That's what I call "NEW".
But hey, Olds did a great job on my 4.0 AT THE FACTORY; over 200,000 miles, never been opened and likely many more miles to go.
So, these engines should not be called "NEW" as stated but "often re-assembled".

That's the kind of perfection I want in my engine. That's what I call "NEW". That can't be true... It simply doesn't make sense. They can check the wipers, and if they don't work, replace the wiper motor. Then check everything again...

I know it doesn't make sense. but consider the time invested in diagnostics, disassembly, repair/replace and the unsureness of the root of the problem and possible recall or lemon implications; perhaps they just didn't want to take the risks. Besides, do you think an auto manufacturer should have a "Repair Facility"?
Why would a car plant have a crusher on-site? That was the question asked and that story is the answer given by the leaser of the property. Maybe it's because it's not like Levi's and the can't sell "seconds".
