A 244ci engine turning at 6,500 rpm would consume 460 cfm of air. That thing claims to move 350 cfm of air.

To see gains of any kind you need a MINIMUM of 5lbs of boost or about 2500cfm from that marine vent fan

Comparitively speaking a Roots style Eaton built supercharger generates as much 15psi of boost with a smaller pulley (3.0")
CSC works differently, but boost levels are universal, you need BOOST to get significant gains. So in other words, that "mod" is useless.

So in other words, that "mod" is useless. Yeah, but I bet it comes with a cool "Gulf Coast Performance" sticker to slap on your window and at least *pretend* you are getting a performance gain...!

i wonder if someone has ever tried making an actual electric supercharger, i would think it'd be pretty complecated since you'd have to vary the speed of the motor in comparison to the engine speed and also the throttle position. i don't know if you could find a motor that would work efficiently enought though to hook up to a CSC, i sppose it would probably need a beefed up electrical system. i tell ya though, i sure as hell would buy one ;D then ya don't need a shaft goin accross your engine bay hmm, i think i found myself a project

You'd need a serious alternator to power a serious electric SC. That would have as much or more mechanical drain on the engine. Plus you'd have to beef up a lot of electronics. I think a mechanical CSC would be a heck of a lot easier, and would sound a lot better than an electric one...

yeah id think it would bog down the alternator, if not just blow it, especially if its a high mile engine. This engine has enough power, sheesh. Im just gonna stick to the Aurora V8 and just beef the exhaust.

Good idea, open up the intake, beef up the exhaust and you'll have near STS power...trust me

hey jim are you sure that Corsa Exhaust for the STS will just "bolt" right on to my 1995? they arent returning my emails or phone... It won't bolt right on. You'll need some slight modification of the y-pipe in length. There were a couple of folks on Edmunds who did it, search around if you want specifics of what has to be modified. Nothing complicated or involving bending, just some slight stuff a shop should have no problem doing.

Hi Steven,
Wot Bob said and This is a copy of an e-mail correspondence
Sent: Monday, August 02, 2004 9:37 AM To: Jim Browning Jr jbrowning@corsaperf.com Subject: Aurora
Hi there, Is there a CORSA Performance Exhaust that will fit my 1996 Aurora
Isnibs. ------------------------------
Thanks for the interest in CORSA Performance!
We do not have a system for your Aurora...Our Cadillac STS system is close, but would have to be modified by you to fit.
Thanks, Jim Browning

hmm, not too bad i guess but i dont really like how they sound too much. i like the deep rumbling that Flowmaster gives out on their systems. but oh well, i need something other than stock so i guess i will get this then. thanks guys.

Flowmaster is know for its sound quality but not so much in regards to its flow/performance rate. Still, its a good upgrade for you. Better then some electrical SC..

How does this sound: www.esuperchargers.com/its got some dyno results from a civic, hopefully the results are real, if so, it means it should work...right?

sheesh enough with this electric crap
howard i was talking about the corsa. flowmaster doesnt make pre-fitted Y-pipes or packages for this car. i dont really favor corsa too much because i dont like that high RPM whine it makes from the outside, sounds like a 4-banger or something. whatever i dunno

this forum as I believe it to be is to discuss topics related to the Aurora, and this thread was actually about the Supercharger, there is this thread if you want to discuss exhaust: aurorah.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=Zoom&action=display&thread=1097938522this is the wrong thread for exhaust, and the topic about exhaust has been "dragging" on waaaaaayyy longer than this. WOW, suddenly I feel I should be a Moderator.

How does this sound: www.esuperchargers.com/its got some dyno results from a civic, hopefully the results are real, if so, it means it should work...right? There is no baseline or description or anything to go along with that dyno. And it shows two dyno runs. Is one with the supercharger and one without it? They are basically identical. And that Civic has a 1.6L engine, not a 4.0L engine. So it would only consume about 184 cfm at 6,500 rpm. If you are really interested, just go ahead and buy it. Worst case, you'll have a 12v electric fan to play with. i dont really favor corsa too much because i dont like that high RPM whine it makes from the outside, sounds like a 4-banger or something. Wow... Have you heard one in person? I can appreciate everyone likes a different sound, so it's cool if you don't like the Corsa one, but I can't imagine what the whine is you refer to, nor can I ever picture a 4-banger sounding like my car does.

yes well i would hope a 4-banger wouldnt sound like my 4.0 V8 lol. 4-bangers dont stand a prayer against my aurora, NONE. no, i havent heard one in person but i was looking at the STS system on www.corsaperf.com and when they floored the STS it sounded like a popcorn machine.

isn't all this Corsa talk off topic? isn't that why we have threads in here for their respective topics? or am I the only one in here that seems to think so? going off topic is just like changing the subject, which is not cortous to other forum members, specialy to the topic starter, im sure you can agree....
Oh well, I guess I got the response I needed re: the Electric Supercharger, or at least partial...you might want to consider renaming this thread tho.
