Anyone interested in some non-bolt-on type mods might want to read this thread: www.cadillacforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22294The Bbob guy makes some very good points. And I can see how a higher stall convertor would help on our cars, though it probably helps more on the 300hp 4.6L since it is weak on low-end torque. I wouldn't want the driving characteristic or poor economy of one, though. The things he tends to mention are - cat back exhaust - extrude honed exhaust manifolds - higher-stall torque convertor He also mentions in this thread about porting the intake manifold, but it sounds like a risky move. If someone were so inclined, it would probably be better to pick up a spare one to port instead of porting the original one.

Hmm, if ya do decide to get that Electric Supercharger, i calculated it out for the estamated HP you'd be gettin', it would be around 300hp @5pis at the crank, so about 50hp@ 5psi, and about 60hp @ 6psi. so not horrible i guess, you'd just have to be real careful when you use it since compression will be upwards around 11.8:1 at 6psi, and my handy dandy calculator says that you should be running around 100.8 octane fuel. i'm not sure though since it would only be for 15 seconds, i would still try and run race fuel every time i planned to use it.

You need to take a systematic approach to building horsepower. The only mod by itself that will significantly increase horsepower in a way you can feel (sorry guys, no one can feel 5-10 hp by seat of the pants) other than a supercharger (forget the electric pieces of garbage) is by having your heads reworked by a competent head porter. You would get probably 30-40 hp by themselves. If you took the systematic approach and then also added the larger throttle body and a performance exhaust (ideally with headers but they would be expensive custom pieces) you could probably get up to 60-80 hp. There are only two true ways to see if you're successful. That is run it at the dragstrip, get your MPH and raceweight and use a horsepower calculator or put it on a chassis dyno get the number that way. I have found that most claims of additional horsepower, while well intentioned, Are wildly inaccurate. Once you get the HP bug, you're in trouble because it's hard to stop. Ask me how I know this since I've been throught it already with my '87 383, superrammed Corvette. Good Luck with whatever you decide.
